Journey to Ireland tomorrow

Headed out tomorrow....

 

Golf plans include:

 

Corballis Links Thursday 26th to stay awake from the plane ride

St Anne's Friday 27th

Royal County Down Sunday 29th

 

Head to Killarney on Monday the 30th and likely play one of those and Dooks on the 31st

 

Ballybunion on Wednesday Jun 1

Lahinch on Friday Jun 3

 

Maybe mix in a few lighter courses near Ballybunion and Lahinch if family requirements allow.....

 

Any suggestions for food or tourist stops are welcomed.

Killarney is a great town with stunning and i mean stunning scenery

Very nice people in Killarney golf club

Dooks is a hidden gem with great staff

Play tralee also drive up coast road towards tarbert and get ferry across to killimer it will save you few hours travel time

Nestled between newly renovated doonbegg links and lahinch is a great 9 hole links course called spanish point

Green fees are €25 for all day golf

Plenty of options for food etc

10 mins ahead is lahinch and cliffs of moher

Id recommend you kept goin towards galway on wild atlantic way scenery is wild

The trip is fantastic so far.... Royal County Down was shockingly brutal and beautiful and fair and unlike anything I have experienced. If I have one piece of advice, play it twice.... It is so breathtaking the first time that you forget to just play golf.....

 

In Killarney now .... Beautiful town and great scenery.... Heading to Dooks for an early evening round after a day exploring more of Killarney.

Nice trip. RCD is in a world of its own. Dooks is very picturesque. I've not played Lahinch or Ballybunion but definitely top of the list.

Very happy with Dooks... The greens were in great shape and the views quite nice. We went out in good time as a twosome then ran into a wall of groups around the 10th hole. If any of you were part of those three groups ... "Hit the damn ball and walk!!" Lol...

 

Actually it wasn't bad because it gave us plenty of time to chip and practice bunker play around the greens.... On to Ballybunion this morning.

You are blessed with great weather so far for your trip in Ireland

Be prepared for June bank holiday traffic

It's a public holiday in Ireland Monday so expect heavy traffic Friday with people going to sea side destinations

Definitely won't need your wet gear

I have a sunburn!! Ballybunion is amazing.... And if you can request a Junior caddie named Philip DO IT!! The kid is a riot and very very good....

Lahinch yesterday.... What a great experience!! Best golf of the trip.... Best course conditions, best experience, and favorite little pub The Cornerstone....

 

Had booked an 8:10 months ago. Started trying to get a replay as soon as I got to the course. Tony the starter was doing his best and got us out again at 4... We had two great caddies, Nathan a Jr caddy in the morning and then Adam a senior caddie in the evening.... Adam is only 19 and hustles hard.... The best part was the wind had changed from our morning round so we played the same course with much different personalities between the morn and evening rounds.

 

So we played Corballis Links, St Anne's, Royal County Down, Dooks, Ballybunion, and Lahinch (2)....Looking back, the top courses are the prizes. I will plan less courses and more replays on future trips.....

No... There was an availability issue with our schedule so went to Dooks instead....
