Shot Scope tracking system

Recommended Posts

Now we can move to the "approaches" tab. This tab again can be for the full "season" or per club performance. Here are my approach stats with the SW which was the easiest to show since I used it the most during the previous two rounds. Lots of good info here relating to average shots to finish from different conditions as well as average proximity to the hole:

Think this is the screen you're looking for robrey85. I used my SW because it had the most data. I'll take some other screen grabs with other clubs when I'm done.

Now on to putting. From the putting tab we can see a lot of useful information such as avg. putts per round, avg putts including those from off of the green, and avg holes per 3 putt. The bar graph below that shows number of putts per green broken down into 1 putts, 2 putts and the other kind (3 putts). Below that you see a hole out percentage based on short, medium or long putts as well as how many shots to finish. Not sure what the exact measurement is for a "short" vs a "medium" vs a "long" putt which would be helpful moving forward. A really cool feature is seen to the right with a sliding scale that the user can move which gives a make % and shots to finish based on specific putt distances - 0-6 ft, 6-12 ft, etc.

Here I've scrolled down to show my putt % from 6-12 ft:

OK folks, that's all I've got as far as screen shots. I would be happy to take more if there is a specific thing you'd like to see or answer any questions you may have. I'm not an employee of the company so I may not have all of the answers, just someone using the product. My overall impression is that this will be a very useful tool for me moving forward and I think the stats presented as well as some that will likely be added are great. Customer service and responsiveness is top notch.

Curious how penalties are handled?

How are the sensors for the clubs? I have always been leery of the tags due to reported durability issues.

Have you had any issues with shots registering on wrong holes?

Have you had instances where you are waiting for a group to clear so you take some practice swings then wait and then go for the real shot?

Can you group stats by course?

Thanks for doing this! I had given the MS Band a try and this seems to address some of the issues I had with that system so I'm rather curious and hopeful.

I don't worry bout penalties or lost balls because I don't do that kind of thing. You can change that in the editing afterward. Here's a screen shot:

So if I go in and edit I can select the penalty type and it will add the strokes to my score.

I have not had any issues with shots registering on incorrect holes.

Practice swings etc really don't cause many issues at all. Not sure what the technology is but it does a good job of knowing when it is a real shot for the most part. I think I may have erroneous per round or two.

Don't think you can group stats by course but that is a good suggestion! I will pass it along as that would be helpful for me as well.

Glad to do it. Just finished my third round with the system and have been more than pleased. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Just been catching up on this thread. Great to hear another happy Shot Scope user Gatormanager3. Regarding club tags turtlesvs, they are black but still scuff a little however haven't had any issues and they weigh a gram or two.

Seems Shot Scope was used by European Tour professional Jamie McLeary during the Dunhill Links Championship last week. Pretty cool to see tour guys using one of these systems in competition!!

Also Jamie ran a competition on his twitter/facebook to win a Shot Scope and has published a discount code: europeantour which gets a 20% discount.

Not sure when the code is valid until but thought better pass it along to the GolfWrx community :golfer:

Hi all, I've been on these forums for awhile just don't post much but anyway I've been following this thread as I"m interested in getting one of these myself as it looks very intriguing.

How long did it take you to receive it after if was ordered? I'm in the US

Is it still consistent and not missing shots? Or not missing many shots?

Are you glad you went with this and not a different product?

Thanks in advance.

Update: I received mine and used it the other day for a quick 9 holes. It wasn't ideal weather as it was very windy but the bright side is even with clouds, overcast and a little rain it had GPS signal the whole time and tracked every shot just perfectly. I'm not use to wearing anything on my wrist when I play but after a few swings it was not a problem, at all and having the only interaction with the band it after you sink the putt allowed me to concentrate and complain about how windy it was :). Yes it was only one 9 hole round but so far I'm liking this and think it was a great purchase. The down side is now I can see how truly bad I am at golf :(

Anymore feedback here? How heavy is the wrist unit? I know people always say GPS isnt accurate enough for putting but I figure over enough rounds this is probably pretty good as the errors would average out.

It's not heavy at all, I don't even notice that I'm wearing it honestly. Support is very good as well. The only thing I've had a problem with is putting and it doesn't happen all the time but what does happen is when I review my round it will sometimes have all my putts grouped together about 2 feet apart. I'm made them aware of that but like I said it doesn't happen all the time and nothing a quick edit can't fix. Overall I'm very happy with this. If you have any other questions I'd be happy to answer if I can.

For all of you, who don't like to wear any additional device to track your game, I'd like to invite you to have a look on bebrassie.com. bebrassie is also much cheaper. You just pay $6 per month, but get the full tracking performance. If you put in the profile your clubs with your average lengths, the software automatically choose the club in the editing process.

Looking forward to your feedback.

Best Oliver

I pulled the trigger and its on its way. Looking forward to this. I feel like I had read somewhere that putters that have Superstroke grips with the countercore might not be able to have the sensor screwed in. Anyone here have that issue?

I didn't have that issue but that is true as with those grips there is nowhere to screw in the tag. I've read that some people just cutoff the screw part and either glue or tape it the tag to the top of the putter grip.

Finally got mine and will be using it tomorrow for the first time. I suggested the course Im playing a while ago but I dont see any way to know that they actually mapped it. It seems odd to me that theres no place to indicate which course you're playing. Does anyone know what happens if you play a course that hasnt been mapped yet?

First impressions:

- One of the sensors broke while screwing it into my club but a dab of gorilla glue seems to have worked out fine. The sensors do scuff pretty easily but still feel solid. I dont think they will work themselves out at all. They do sit up a bit if you have grips with a rounded top ( I have this on my wedges ) so I'll be keeping an eye on this.

- I did have to glue the sensor onto my putter due to the counter core Superstroke grip. No issues

- I am really impressed with the system overall. No need to download the course to your unit or do anything other than mark the pin while playing. This is easily the most seamless stat tracking experience I've had and is exactly what I've been looking for.

- The unit only missed one stroke which was a second chip after duffing the previous one. Positions were accurate but can be off by a few yards. For instance I was out of a greenside bunker one shot but the recorded shot was out of the rough next to it. Very easily changed on the website. No added shots anywhere and every shot was on the correct hole. Really impressive. Distances should average out over time.

- Adding penalties was super easy and intuitive.

- The wrist unit is very light and only a bit noticeable due to its bulk if its too close to your hand on the wrist.

I am really looking forward to getting a few rounds in to see the stats more.

I have about 25 rounds in on Shot Scope now and the system is fantastic.

Occasionally have to add a shot, but mostly due to my golf rather than the wristband!

Quite excited to see the new app update which is released this week - pretty sure it will make Shot Scope one of the main players in the market because they certainly have the best technology.

Seems to me that if you don't like something on your wrist then Arccos is the option, but if you don't want to carry a phone then Shot Scope is the only option. I don't understand why anyone would touch Game Golf because of tagging.

So after going through and editing my round there was a bug with stats:

- After adding penalties on a 3w and 9 iron approach shot that went in the water, these two clubs started showing up in my short game stats and were removed from my approachs. This is an obvious error. I am corresponding emails with them already about this so hopefully they get it resolved soon

Has anyone else had this issue?

Some enhancements I'd like to see:

- You have the option to mark a shot as positional, this is great in so far as if you need to punch out this designation is supposed to remove the shot from stats on approach pct's and distances etc. The problem is that they specifically say lay ups on par 5's should be marked as positional but then that removes the shot from distances/club performance. This is probably not a huge deal but I hope they investigate being able to mark layups and give stats on layup accuracy (Fairway/Rough/bunker pcts for instance) while maintaining the positional designation. Fairly minor issue

- Being able to group stats by course would be huge for me. I play four courses fairly regular and would love to know my misses on these courses on a hole by hole basis. This is definitely do-able and I hope its on their radar.

- Since this is wrx, they should really create a way to archive club stats and then start a new club and compare to old. If I want to test a new hybrid, being able to play a few rounds and compare those stats against my old hybrid would be great. Putters would be very interesting

Are you able to use the app during the round to see your score/other stats? Mainly looking to see if I can see a score during the round.

No I do not believe this is capable at the time. The wrist unit doesn't display anything at all and in order to see the score you would have to sync to your phone mid round which I suspect would mess up the way they calculate rounds. Personally I like this as the whole system is going on in the background while I can concentrate on my round and I dont have to pull out a phone to type. I keep track of my score on the scorecard and use this to mark penalties and to double check the score at the end of the round.

I kind of asked this before, but not directly.

How does ShotScope handle putts from the fringe?

e.g. - Par 4 - you hit Driver, 7i and are laying 2 on the fringe. You strike your third shot with your putter from the fringe to 3 inches and then tap in for par.

Do you press '1' or '2' over the hole when you retrieve your ball?

My understanding is that you would click the 2 button. It is the number of shots hit with the putter not number of putts - if that makes sense. Then Shot Scope determines where the shots took place and at that point one should be placed off the green and one beside the hole :) Certainly how I manage it, and works pretty well. I think we are years and years away from effectively military grade gps for these products so there will always be some positioning issues.

This is what I've been doing as well and is the correct thing to do near as I can tell. You can see your putter strokes from the Short Game tab. I'm not clear on if the putting stats sliding scale includes these putts though.

I have this device and like most think it has great potential, but struggling to understand all the data at the moment.

When you go on Performance and select all clubs it shows the distance, you can change the graph by selecting Avg, P Avg and longest.

Can anybody tell me what P Avg is and what it is telling me.

You can only select the option on All Clubs, as when you select an individual club it shows all 3 options Avg, P Avg and Longest, but it still does not say what P Avg is - Any Ideas.

Also I would love the App to enable you to click on the longest drive and it takes you to that hole, I would love to see a comments facility as it could have been a down wind shot so it can distraught the figures a bit.

All in all can't wait to get more data coming out
