what it's really like
I can get one of these cheap. I had an R7 and loved it but it went absolutely nowhere, shortest driver ever for me.

So what the 430Q like??? Is it a solid long driver. I know Adans don't have a really big name but it undeserved, they make some great clubs.

Any ideas people????????? :drinks:

First of all...put having a "really big name" out of your thoughts. This is the problem of the American golfer. Most wouldn't know a good driver if it jumped up and hit them in the face because to most US golfers if it doesn't say Titl, Tayl, Call, Nike, or Ping they won't buy it. Adams is more technically advanced than most of the other companies and really putting the effort into their woods.

Second...go to a good clubfitter. Hit his demos, then hit his demos again. Have him fit you preferably on a launch monitor. Then hit his demos again. Selecting a driver should be a process. Take your time and have some patience and hit his demos a fourth time even. :yahoo:

The shaft is the motor and transmission...the head is the steering wheel so spend more time on the shaft selection than the head selection. Hope this helps. By the way Adams 2 screw comp top is in my bag in 10.5 degrees with Graphite Design YS-7 which i launch at average 13.8 with 2900 rpm backspin. I carry out at about 265 which is all i want in the middle of the fairway. Forget the 300 yard stuff for me. :clapping: :clapping:

I think it is the longest club out on the market. It has a great feel. I think a whole lot better than the r7 because of the composite crown. on the launch monitor it always has the fastest ball speeds. I really could care less about the movable weights because it feels so damn good. The ball really jumps off the face. There is something to that pear shape that i really like setting up to. For me the driver went a little lower than some other drivers which is what I am looking for. I would definately pick one up. Don't let the name fool you, this thing is the real deal.

Thanks guys for the replies so far.

1st off I live in NZ. Big names doesn't really worry me, hell I've just put a cheap RAM hyrid reg shaft in the bag just coz it works!!!!! I'm thinking of buying it online so I can't really demo it, no one round here stocks them. Hence the "big name" comment.

I was thinking probably a Prolaunch or Ys-6 shaft. I tend to hit low to mid ballflight.

Cheers

I figured from the name you were in Aussie or NZ. I was just stating what the Americans do on drivers. The Prolaunch is an excellent shaft as is the YS-6. Do you have a launch monitor fitter nearby?

I have tried this club with the grafalloy blue stiff shaft. I am tempted to get one but the price is a little too much. I'll have to wait on ebay for cheaper price. This club is awesome, it is long and straight. What i don't like about the people that bought these big name clubs is that they don't even try to demo the smaller companies such as adams, orlimar etc. They are missing something. I know that i have a cobra driver but i have tried all other companies not just the big ones. I happen to like the cobra. If i can buy 2 or 3 drivers at that time, i would pick orlimar and adams 430Q. Right now i have a orlimar 420cc driver as a back up. My next one to get is the adams 430q.

Great driver. I hit it head to head with the TM R7 and it beat it hands down. It is a low launcher so you might have to play with the weights to get the traj you prefer. I really liked the driver but I am still hitting my driver very good so I am not replacing it. If I did replace it I would either go with a J33 or the 430q.

Dave, rockbottomgolf sell these on ebay at the moment for around $130USD, some even cheaper, and send to this region for only $30USD.

Adams seem to flood the market whenever they release something so that in 6 months all their stuff is worthless.

As for the club, it is as good a driver as I have used, distance is excellent, accuracy and looks great. Sound is horrible, way too loud in my opinion.
