Injury at golf camp

This incident happened in NY. At a golf camp the kids were hitting balls in their stalls. The stalls a very close together by driving range standards. While one kid was in a stall bending over to pick up a ball (he was close to the divider, which is a two foot metal barrier), a kid in the stall to his right was taking the club away and hit him in the backswing (it was an accident and the kids were following the rules). The injured boy was cut just above his right eye and required 4 sticthes (First aid was applied right away averting any severe swelling). This all happened about 4 stalls away from me while I was working with another kid. I was present with 2 other instructors (they are paid for this, I am not, but one is a HS student and the other college student I am 35).

I actually am not employed by the camp, I volunteer two days a week because several of my High school players (I am a hs golf coach) attend the camp and I want to see what they are up to.

Another side note is that for the first half of the session one of the asst pros was heading on the putting green. He then had us walk the kids over to the range and said he would be right over. Well he never came over, and we had the kids start hitting. The injury happened in the last 5 minutes of the camp. When we came back from the range we found him in the pro shop.

I want to know if I can be held liable seperatly from the camp? Should I make them put me on the books retro when I started the camp?
