Guns and Ammo (NO POLITICS)

Hey everyone. I now the last firearms thread got shut down due to people not being able to refrain from bringing politics into it, so I’m asking those of you interested in this thread to not discuss politics at all. If you feel the need to discuss your political views there are plenty of forums out there for you.

 

Now back to the topic. I went to pick up some tacos last night and parked in front of the gun shop next door. Last time I stopped by there it was packed, but it was pretty empty this time so I went in with the intent to look around. Not even a minute in the shop and I had the test in front of me. 7 minutes later I was getting my new gun license laminated. So I’ve been pretty interested in getting a couple of guns for home protection. I would also get a biometric gun safe. It’s been several, several years since I’ve shot anything. I’ve been looking at a Glock 19 and maybe a Smith and Wesson 9mm to start off with. I have no idea how much ammo would cost for these. I’ve read reviews on both and they’re very positive. Any recommendations for getting back into firearms? Any recommendations for a quality safe? Not too concerned with money. I need it to fit 2-4 hand guns and extra safe to have at home as I have 2 little ones.

Glocks are my duty and off-duty guns.. I have to carry our Dept ammo, its 147 gr and is pretty good.... Just get jacketed rounds to practice and a good round for home defense. And as you've said, get a safe! No politics.. But here is Cali, the laws going into effect 1/1/18, means you better stock up NOW! Good deals can be found online!

Years back I acquired a Taurus Tracker 357 magnum and have really enjoyed that gun. Shoots very true and I've enjoyed getting better with it. Now, I'm searching for a carry weapon and probably will snag the S&W Shield for that - based on what my gun buddies suggest.
