cheaters

Well, today was the first day of 3, i shot a 83 (missed some short ones). I was the 3rd group, so i was happy with my score, but once the rest of the groups came in, I was like HOLY S***, these kids cant shoot that if they were allowed mulligins. The kid i played with shot a 86, which should have been a 91. But I dont want to be a snitch or jerk, do I call them out?????????

I'd say yes. Better now at tryouts then at a meet later on.

well you call them out if you have proof, or they could just be better than you?

dont call them out if you have proof. and there really isnt a way to have any proof because it will be his word against yours. you could mention it to the coach though.

 

id say, next time you play with these guys, call them out on what they do wrong. whether it be dropping mulligans or whatever. also keep their score and write down what they did in case they try to dispute it later.

You have to bring it up on the course when the infraction happens. If you let it go and call them out after your round, then your a jerk. :)

Well today I shot a 88 (3 OB's). I played with a cheater, on the 10th, 520yd par 5, he hit 2 tee balls OB, but insisted one of them was in play. So he picked up the 2 balls that were clearly OB, and then he walked around for a 1 minute or two, (said he was looking for the second ball even though he just picked them both up. And then he pulled a ball out of his pocket and dropped it when no one was watching (so he thought, but I did). I said "That is BULL S***, you just dropped that ball from your pocket". He practally craped his pants, and admitted it, so he wen back to the tee.................He handed up with a 94 (all of the local tournys he claimed to shoot in the 70's). At the end of the round I told the coach, and he said it was a good thing to tell him about, coach said you helped your self, and the rest of the players. So I felt proud :drinks: I dont like to play with cheaters :cheesy:

In a match last year I called a kid out who dropped it. The kid was a joke, it was right in front of the coaches and teams on the last hole, but I was probably the only one who saw it. He put his hand in the grass with a ball clearly in sight and brushed it and was like 'Oh here it is', I was like NO WAY. So I called him for it and he insisted that it was his ball even though his face was redder than an apple. Anyway, inform your coach or team captain somehow. In the end it only hurts your team, and if you get caught, your school will be branded cheaters for a good couple of years.

unless its blaightent, like they shank a wedge, and then say mulligan and drop another ball in the fairway, and a coach sees it. i dunno how you can like get proof of it for the coaches, if your playing with the same cheaters tomorrow, just tell the coach to keep an eye on the kids.

My son just made the golf team. During tryouts one of the older kids in the group would keep everyone's score. One of the golfers claimed to shoot a 46 for nine holes, but my son told me this person was using the toe wedge, dropping a ball and "finding" it after the first one was lost, etc. The person keeping the score must have been paying attention because the real score he marked was a 54. My son was really steamed until he found this out from the scorekeeper. My son counts every shot and plays it as it lies...

 

Eventually cheaters will be found out...in a tournament.

Like others have said, you've gotta let them know, because it's better to have them found out in tryouts than in a tournament because if they cheat in a tournament, the school's reputation suffers.
