Hey if you're still trying to fix the headcover, you can always change the color yourself..... just dip a Q-tip in some bleach and apply to the thread, it takes all the color away, and then you simply choose the sharpie you want and can color the thread by touching it with the tip of the sharpie and color bleeds out onto the thread.

 

Ive done my gauge headcover and my old titleist headcover, and you maybe have 10 minutes if that to finish the job..

That's some good advice, maybe I'll try that some day on a different one. The problem is the cover itself is red, so changing the threads to something else wouldn't really go with red too well. I can live with it though, it's just a cover right.

(SOLD) The new bad boy in the bag! I'm pretty excited about this one. Cobra L4V F/10.0* with a Diamana Blueboard 63g Stiff shaft. Only been able to play 9 with it so far, but should get in 18 more today. Michigan golf season is looking about done unfortunately, but I think this will stick around until further analysis can be done in good conditions.

Haha, dang it. I was just laughing with my buddy yesterday that he's going to hate me when we go to the dome. Oh well, I'm sure it'll happen once at least. Then in January we've got heated stalls coming to Michigan States normal outdoor driving range, so that should be pretty cool.

Nothing new here, clubs seen some use...just gave it a fresh paint fill today is all. Couple things changed, check it out.

 

EDIT: better pictures added. Just gave it a fresh coat of colors, nothing really different except white added on the lines that used to be gold and white sole number then clear coated.

Thanks. Yeah I did actually. I know the Pro pretty well back at home, so I had him take care of it. Left a message this weekend to see if it was back, but nobody was at the course with snow coming down. I'm not in any hurry obviously, but it should be back soon if not already.

(SOLD) Picked up this Byron 006 not too long ago. It was pretty rusty, so it went through a refinish. Received a very dark oil can (almost black oxide looking). It's 34" and has a 355g head. Has a black Iomic grip and black Club Byron headcover.

(SOLD) Tour Issue Bettinardi BB16. Raw carbon steel, 350g, blank sole. Green and white Hex B headcover. I wouldn't mind an Odyssey #9 style, but no insert. This is a little smaller head than the #9, didn't really do it for me. Little expensive to keep around as an extra as well. It's a pretty sweet putter...if I had the money I'd have it oil canned.

Anyways, they put a brand new head on my actual previous shaft. Can't wait to hit it. Too bad it will be in the dome...better take ear plugs, LOL

Definitely bring the ear plugs. That thing will destroy your ears inside. I brought mine to one of my lessons once, and my instructor basically told me not to hit it LOL.

Here's some updates:

 

(SOLD) Put this V-Steel back in play mid summer. I actually purchased it brand new in 2005, sold it to a buddy, and traded it back this year. Has a fresh paint job now as well. UST ProForce V2 hybrid shaft, for a little bit higher launch. Not typical, but it works for my swing.

 

 

 

 

(SOLD) Also have the Mizuno MP Fli-Hi 21* 3 iron back in the bag. I bought this back when I got my new irons last Spring. Custom paintfill as well. Poor winter lighting right now, but the Mizuno logo on the sole is blue and numbers changed to white.

 

 

 

 

(SOLD) Now this was actually new. Trying out an Adams Idea Pro 18* hybrid in place of a 5 wood. Again, fresh paint, just nothing fancy. Aldila VS Proto hybrid shaft.

(SOLD) After a years use, the Mizuno combo set is still in the bag. It was an excellent purchase and I plan to use them through 2009 as well. Decided to give them a fresh coat of paint. Blue and white was used. The soles are left blank as well as the "grain flow forged" on the hosels. Grips are still matching blue/black multicompounds.

 

Sorry the pictures are a touch dark because I had to take them inside (no flash though thankfully). I only took the time to get 1 picture outside (it's 9 degrees, feels like 1) to show the true colors a little better, and even that's not great because of the winter sky.

Added to the arsenal is this brand new Scratch JLM 60* wedge with an EGG grind. Stock S300 shaft. Went ahead and added my custom paintfill (blue/white) to it so it matches the rest of my irons. Turned out great.

 

The pics aren't as good as I'd like, but we've still got that weird winter sky going on.

I actually got this one from another WRX member, I couldn't pass it up. I believe they are selling the JLM's for $150 on the Scratch site currently. If I were you, I'd wait until after the PGA show here and they'll be coming out with the 2 new models. Including one that I hear is supposed to be priced in align with your Vokeys, CG12's, X Forged, etc. I'm also pretty sure the other new one comes with a KBS Tour shaft! Don't quote me on all of this though, it's just what I thought I recall reading on the boards.

 

I've only hit mine in a dome so far, but I'm very excited to get it on the course this spring. I really don't have the money to get the matching 56* at this point...but I'm going to have a hard time holding back, lol.

After some dumb Ebay issues and 3 Idea Pro's later...I've finally got it all sorted out and have this one ready for the bag this Spring. Pretty simple, Idea Pro 20* with stock Aldila VS Proto 80-S shaft. Decided to change the paintfill to match the blue/white/black theme of the grip and shaft.

(SOLD) Replaced my Cobra L4V w/ Diamana Blueboard 63g and went with the Adams A4 9015D w/ Matrix Ozik 60g. Has a white/black Mulitcompound grip on it. I think the stock headcover is real ugly though...may need to be replaced with something (maybe a Rocket Tour?). Anyways, this is my driver for now. Ball flight is a bit lower than the Cobra was for me, so hopefully I like it.

 

EDIT: Probably my favorite driver I've used to date, but I had to let it go. A combination of my struggling swing lately, and the open face was starting to hurt me. When struck well, it was in my opinion the longest driver I've ever hit. Not to mention the simple traditional look, great sound, trajectory, and feel. I just wish I could have had it with a square face.

EDIT: I switched to a 15* instead of the 16.5*, and also went to a stiff shaft instead of the regular. No new pics, because it's essentially the exact same.

(SOLD) Back in the bag for now is an original Nike SasQuatch Sumo 9.5* driver. My game started on a downward slope lately and I needed something I knew I could hit, so I went back to the Nike again. We'll see where things go with this. I pulled the stock V2 shaft and had an Aldila VS Proto 60g in regular flex installed, tipped 3/4" to play at 245 cpm.

 

EDIT: I've got a 10.5* w/ UST V2 stiff flex in the bag now.

In my pursuit to work on my game and get back to the player I once was, I've sold my R7 TP irons for the regular R7's. I'm not really a digger with my irons, I've got a little more sweeping swing and the tendency to hit every so slightly behind the ball at contact. I think the little bit larger face, sole, and grind will help with that. They remind me of my old Cobra 3100 I/H's in a lot of ways, and that's a good thing.

 

It's time to make an honest effort at getting back to the basics. Use the equipment that works, not what looks best or is coolest to talk about. To work on my swing, not my bag. I'd like to get back to the game of golf that you have the confidence to score well and barely think twice about it.

 

It's going to be a hard process...wish me luck!

Wow speaking of 3100 I/H's I started out w/ a cheap 4-pw set and wanted a 3 iron, and came up with a cobra 3100 I/H 3 iron that I love. Weird thing is I just got the same Taylormade R7's 4-pw but still keep that 3 iron in my bag. It's my go to club off the tee when I need to be accurate and find the fairway. But the R7's are awesome, love the bag!
