As winter approaches, what does everyone like to do during the off season to prepare their game for 2008?

Three things:

 

1. Order any new clubs you want. I just placed an order for a new Ping G10 4 wood and now I have a few months to get fully used to it.

 

2. Hit the gym and do lots of cardio, abs, and repetitions with light weights.

 

3. Here in the South we can play year round, you just have to pick your days. So at least on weekends, the sun will usually come out and you can at least get to the range, the putting green, and the chipping / wedge area. By the time it gets to late February, we are starting the spring season!

I am planning to work out a bit and do lots of video analysis in our nice heated video cabin ;-)

I plan to continue with lessons and plenty of range time. Also play the local courses off the temp tees with a limited bag. Probably like 7-8 clubs. I'll be leaving the driver at home a lot, seems like it's detrimental to my swingwork. I'll pick it back up now and then but if it doesn't come around I'll be using my 13* 3W as my driver. I need some sort of putting lesson as well. I feel like I'm doing something different every time out.

4 hours practice a week, an hour on putting, 1hr 15min on <150yds, 1hr on driving and 45 mins on iron play

The first thing I'll be doing is recovering from the 2007 season. I went from 150 rounds in 2006, right into hard training (5-6x/week) and I was just a little fatigued to begin this season. I hate to say it but I need 2 -3 weeks off w/out swinging the club or working out in early-mid January.

 

After that resume training, continue lessons outdoors, or move to a simulator as necessary, and work on short putts w Pelz' Truthboard. Also I will continue ART therapy to break down all the old scar tissue in my hips, legs, back, shoulders, and arms.

 

I need to get my driver, 4w, and hybrid KWOK'd as well.

Try to not completely flip my bag. The last few years, it's almost an entire new bag in the off season. Outside of some minor shaft tweaks, check the loft/lie, and a fresh set of grips, I want to leave them alone.

 

Keep working on the short game and putting.
