Anybody play softer flex irons for colder weather?

I have been playing MacGregor M685 irons with the Tour Flighted Rifle Lite 5.5 shafts most of this season. My game has progressed to the next level since I started playing these irons. I have started to break 80 on a regular basis on some pretty decent courses. My iron play has definitely improved.

 

The 5.5 shafts are stiffer than what I have previously played (Ping CS Lite Stiff). I find I am more accurate with the stiffer shafts and have even picked up some distance over my previous irons, especially when my swing is on and when I am playing a lot of golf. I do not think the 5.5 shafts are too stiff. But now that it is turning colder and I am playing less, I think I would play better with a softer flex shaft. I bought a set of new M685 irons with TFR Lite 4.5 shafts at a great price ($200) and am waiting to try them out. I figured I could afford this experiment and at worse case if they are to flexible, I would put them away until age dictates changing equipment.

 

Does anybody change equipment for colder weather or when playing less and you are less flexible and your swing is less grooved? Does anybody think this concept may have merit?

nah man just suck it up and golf ur ball as best u can, even if the weather gets horrific.

Thats sounds like a bit of an extreme measure in cold conditions, also an expensive measure. I agree with PB056 just suck it up and keep plugging away :good:
