Penley / Apache iron shafts

Anyone have any comments on Penley or Apache iron shafts?

I have a set of Titleist 962's that I use for winter practice that currently have Graffalloy ProLogics in them. The shafts are ok, but too light for my tastes. I have Fuji VP90's in my 704's and love them, but didn't want to spend that much (again) to re-shaft the 962's.

I was looking for something a little less expensive and heavier than the 75g ProLogics. The Penley IMS is 105g and seems to fit the bill. They are around $280 for a set of taper tips, which I need.

Any ideas?

Well if you are not looking to spend some coin then you have to rule out both those shafts! I just ordered one Apache MFS115 to demo and they cost $37.00 each + installation. I also ordered an Aldila NV Tour 130 which cost $59.95 EACH! (well I had to special order a certain iron).

If you are looking for inexpensive heavy ones, consider the Aldila TGI-120, I believe Aldila still has them for 12.00 each. They are 120gr shaft and perform like Tour Flighted rifles.

What irons are you putting those Apache MFS115 in? What ball flight charcteristics? Thanks

Well if you are not looking to spend some coin then you have to rule out both those shafts! I just ordered one Apache MFS115 to demo and they cost $37.00 each + installation. I also ordered an Aldila NV Tour 130 which cost $59.95 EACH! (well I had to special order a certain iron).

My Vista Pro 90's were $55/club spined, installed, with the grip. The Penley IMS shafts are $280/set which works out to about $35/club, which is ok.

I was interested in hearing if anyone had hit them and how they performed. I'm still looking to see if Apache makes a set of taper tip iron shafts in the 105g range.

These are going in TM300 (retail) heads. The Apache MFS115 are only offered in .370P. I buy demo irons as I find them so I do not mess with my own set. I am having the head reemed out from .355T to .370P, it's a forged iron head so it cuts like butter.

Graphite Design 105LB about $35 a shaft if you can get them at cost. One of the best performing and feeling graphite irons shafts and I have tried just about everyone. They have a .355 tip and the swing weight will not need to be adjusted (lead tape or pin) because they are weighted to approximately D-2 at 38 for a five iron.

Harmon HTD iron shafts are 95g just like your VP's and USED to be available in .355 & .370 at Golf Works site for $30 per.

I play the VP 90's in my irons also and think the HTD is somewhat close to the VP90 as far as playability goes.
