Course Membership San Francisco

I am looking to move to San Francisco from the UK next summer (2021) and I wondered what the situation was with regards to becoming a member at a local golf course? Currently I pay around $1500 annually for a full time membership at a decent golf course (Mannings Heath) in the UK which allows me access 7 days a week to play golf. I know SF is home to some very elite golf courses which I imagine are out of my price range but could anyone please suggest some decent courses for reasonable prices where one could possibly become a member?

What I think you will find here in the US, at least in Northern California, is that the majority of golfers are not members of private clubs.  With so many municipal courses, most live a nomadic life of playing different courses.

 

You will also find “regulars” that will play the same course every time they go out, but are still paying per round. 
 

One of the few courses just south of The City that offers a decent monthly membership is Crystal Springs ($250 a month) is where I have found myself playing. Not a great course, but a good enough deal to let me get my weekly fix. 
 

Another key point is that private courses around here do not allow for public/visitor play. You only get on the course as a member, or playing with a member.

 

If you end up living inside San Francisco proper, then you can get a residence card which would allow for huge discounts at Harding Park. 
 

As for actual private courses, $1500 would get you about two months of membership for any of The City clubs.
