Heel shafted putter collection

I have always had a thing for heel shafted putters and still game the JAT. These are the putters I have rounded up over the years. Nothing earth shattering or rare but some cool pieces. I plan on downsizing throughout the year and grabbing my first circle t at some point.

I am considering collecting some of these 8802/Napa style putters. Your collection is light years beyond mine, given the only one I have and game is an FX by Ram which I enjoy.

The JAT for sure. It was my gamer for a pretty long time. I started purging the collection a bit and I think I will be down to just the JAT, #8, Jordan 8802 and sole stamp here soon.

And, have you ever had your hands on the Tess JAS WTI?

Personally I prefer the #8 as there is less offset and the flange is a little wider. Both are great putters but the #8 is nostalgic for me. I worked at Golfsmith when that was released and practically drooled when I saw one in person lol.

Good to know! The #8 is one of my favorites and I’ve never come across a Latrobe in person.  It’s a shame heel shafted blade putters are not in the lineup of any major manufacturer right now. 

 

How about the Wilson Carbon vs. the Jordan?  They look like the same putter and I’ve wondered there was any difference from a play standpoint.

 

I did have a chance to get a Tess JAS and the Bettinardi SS 6 in the past year or so.  But, missed out.  I have the G2 Tess and it’s a solid putter that I don’t have to worry about dinging up.

 

I tend to like lighter putters so I keep telling myself I wouldn’t have liked them anyway haha.

In my collection, I’d rank my Top 5 as:

1. Odyssey Series Black 8
2. Wilson 8802 Milled 100th edition
3. Never Compromise Robusto
4. Cobra CNC Model 88
5. Wilson 8802 Mendralla

 

Budget top 5:

1. 90’s remake taller face Wilson 8802 (I have a few but only one of them has the special feel. It has a longer hosel than the others and looks less chrome.)
2. YES Sophia
3. TearDrop Rollface TD42
4. Ping G2 Tess
5. Spalding Efficiency III

 

I guess I have a bit of a problem… 😅  But, always good to see other fans of these putters.

So the Jordan putter has never been gamed. the spot on the face is just oil discoloration. I found it sits more upright than the 8802. 

 

 

I think the #8 just sets up so well for me. I don't know the lie angle but it looks deal square when I line it up. I've always loved heel shafted putters and will still practice with one.

Coming back to this thread after just a few days.  I have a really nice 8802 on its way, as well as a handful of other Marketplace and ebay budget finds.  I am interested to see what it all looks like when the dust settles.  The bug has officially bitten.
