Sitting here switching between a baseball game and the draft coverage. I know it’s been like this for a while but, this thing has gotten crazy! Weeks of hype, 24 hr countdown clock, singing of the national anthem, flyovers, what looks to be ~200k ppl in attendance decked out in face paint and full on game attire! Dang, it’s like the Super Bowl! 😳

All the QBs are gone. I lasted to pick 19. Only real surprise was Penix Jr at 8. Shout out to @Double Mocha Man 😉

Did you notice the shocked and bored reactions by the Atlanta Falcon fans?  I was hoping he'd go to a team where he could start right away and show what he's got.

I didn’t. But I did notice those looks on the fans whose teams took linemen they had never heard of. 😂 

 

*a few years behind Capt. Kirk might be the best thing for him.

The way he was struggling to read up there, I wonder if he was hitting the bottle between announcements.

Jets! Got LT, criticism he won’t even start this year and they didn’t get B Bowers but is good move. He can work alongside T Smith and they need a backup.

As a Vikings fan I’m cautiously optimistic. JJ should be in good hands with that receiving core and O’Connell. The only thing that scares me a bit is his ability to throw into tight windows

Personally, I think the Falcons made a good pick in round 1. I'm not a Falcons fan, but sending a mid to late first rounder right out there to start can be a challenge that works better for the next team than for the drafting team. We see that quite often. Pick and develop has worked out fine for the Packers....

 

I favor the rest of the NFC North's approach. Trade away as many of your 3-5th rounders as possible so they miss out on what usually is a good stretch for some really good players. 😄 Although, Minnesota at least managed two first rounders. The Bears are done after their next pick, and the Packers have more picks left than any other NFC North team will have had in the entire draft barring any trades. 😄

 

Still, it'll be interesting to see how it all shakes out. Though, I won't say "I can't wait" because I'd rather not rush through the next several months. LOL

Being a Penix fan my only wish was that he had been drafted by a team who needed to use him right away. I want to see how he stacks up against the guys who were drafted ahead of him.  Though he could be in the mix soon, Cousins is fragile.

The Pack has had the luxury of waiting, though even Mahomes sat behind Smith for a year. I suspect Penix won't be sitting for three years like Jordan Love, but there is plenty of evidence that patience can be beneficial.

I mean, it can't be just luck that the Pack appears to have a franchise QB....again...

It's a big jump from College to Pro; a big one. What's critical is they have the right QB coaching staff to get the most out of him.

 

For every top 1st year starter, there are several that are merely good enough and more that were meh....
