New member 2022 WITB and some questions! thanks

Recommended Posts

Hi, new memeber here.

Been looking at everyones WITB. Because I am putting one myself at the moment.

Just wondering why isnt there any one using the set up of 1,3,5,7 wood at the same time?

I see some tour players are starting to shift toward this kind of set up.

I have a driver swing speed of 110mph, just feeling the 3w 3h being a bit wobbly, maybe because of the lead tap.

So i want to order some new woods thinking of the Stealth plus 3 and 5 wood with stealth 7 wood (replacing 4 iron).

All with Hzrdus red RDX FW75g 6.5 (X flex).

Sad to say but there is no fitting in Taiwan, so hopfully everyone can help me out. thank you!

some questions just keeps bugging me.

1. Is it beter to also change the driver to X flex for more consistency through out the woods.

2.because there isnt heavier weight red rdx shaft on taylormades website. therefore I am thinking of changing all the wood shaft to ventus.

Any suggestions what might be the best fit (red/blue/tr/black and the flex )

thank you

Set up for now

Driver: Taylormade Stealth plus 9* sw D5

Shaft: Hzrdus red RDX 60g 6.0 (stiff)

3 Wood: Cobra SZ 15* (+5g lead tap) sw D4

Shaft: Mitsubishi Tensei AV Blue 65 stiff

3 Hybrid: Cobra SZ 19* (+5g lead tap) sw D4

Shaft: UST Recoil 480 F4 (stiff)

4-Iron: titleist U500 23*

Shaft: modus 105 stiff

Irons: Taylormade P770 5-P

Shaft: KBS Tour 120 stiff

Wedges: Vokey SM8 50* 54* / High toe 58*

ordered a 58* SM9, keep skying the high toe on course

Putter: Scotty Cameron Futura 5.5

Golf Ball: ProV1

depends on your distances and what courses/where you play? with the amount of thick rough where I live having 3 woods in the bag would not be worth it.

Driver -  PXG Gen5 0311 XF 12* - PX Cypher 50 R

5 Wood -  Taylormade Sim2 Max - Fujikura Ventus Blue R

Irons - Taylormade P790 4-PW - True Temper S

Wedges - Titleist SM8 52* 56*

Putter - Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Special Select - 33"

Where I play, fairway woods are quit usefull. Several waters, which driver might be too long, long par 4 and par 5. So, I use a lot of hybrids and woods, but they are just a bit wobbly.

I normally hit my 3 wood 245y, hybrid 225y 4 iron 205y. So, hopping to achieve the distence with 3 5 7 woods.

Nice bag. I would say you will need to experiment with the setup that works best and if possible get a Driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, 7 wood setup and see if those yardages/gaps make sense for you. I don't know what type of conditions you play (hard greens/hard fairways or not) but tour pros are playing pretty hard greens IMO and have switched to something (7 wood that they can flight high and land soft) to fit gaps. They hit it so long with their driver that 3 wood doesn't really get hit for a second shot as much as it used to and 7 wood fits the billing of what they need. But overall I would say get the clubs that suit the yardage gaps that you need for your game.

OK, thanks. I guess I will just have to buy them and test them out.

It is under the heading of what ever set up and lofts work for you and your course. I am sorta oddball in the way of convential thinking as I play a 3 wood 7 wood and 9 wood but still carry and use the 4&5 irons. There is no one "correct" way to do things experiment to find out what works for you

Driver--- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha--- Speeder 565 R flex

3W-- Callaway RAZR-- Speeder 565 R Flex

7W --- TM V Steel UST Pro Force 65 R flex

Irons 4 thru PW 1985 Macgregor VIP Hogan Apex #2 shafts

SW -- Cleveland 588 56* TT Sensicore S-400

LW Vokey SM5 L Grind 58* 04 bounce Stock Vokey Shaft
