Hi there,

After reading all the glowing reviews of the new Tour Edge Exotics fairway woods, I was wondering how they compare to my favorite fairways, the Sonartec NP99 and the Sonartec ss2.5. Anyone have any experience of comparing these two clubs??

Regards,

I've had the Exotics 3 and 5 woods all year and abosolutely love them. In fact, they're the only clubs that I haven't replaced all year. The ball just flies off the face and they incredibly solid. Also, they're the longest fairway woods that I've hit, and I've hit tons of them, including the Sonatec ss2.5, which I think is really solid, but maybe a step down from the Exotics. For reference, I was hitting my previous 3 wood (Cobra SZ) about 220 to 225; however, my Exotics 3 wood goes 240+ with the stock (stiff) Fuji shaft. SirShanksAlot (www.sirshanksalot.com) gave them an awesome review and picked them as their club of the year ... nuff said.

Hope this helps ... doublej

I used a buddy's Exotic and it felt like butter when you make contact. The face is so hot you barely have to swing to get it out there. I've used Sonartec and they are pretty good. They cost about the same. I think the big difference between them is the pro-factor, I may be wrong in this, but I don't believe many pros play Exotics. I know Vijay plays with Sonartec and so do many other pros. I know tons of weekend golfers who play Exotics.

I think it's all relative to what you like. If you like a wood has a hot face and you like to wow your friends, go with Exotics. If you trust a pros opinion go with Sonartec.

... just depends on how good of a ball-striker you are and what feel you like. i have the exotics 3+. it may be the best 3 wood i've ever had (and i've played the game a very long time). it looks square and appealing at address, is easy to elevate off the deck, plays well off the tee ... it's long, but not super-crazy like a lot of guys suggest. it doesn't want to go left. performance is just awesome for a 3 wood.

but, it is certainly not the most solid and satisfying-feeling fw out there ... it has a bit of a titanium (which it is) driver feel instead of that super-solid, deep thwacky kind of feel a sonartec or 970 will give you.

bottom line though ... the exotics performance is exceptional.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
