How Much Can the Shaft Change the Feel?

How much can a putter shaft change the feel of a putter? I’ve always been a fan of a softer feeling fully forged blade style putters. Almost like White Hot insert soft. Im curious how much of an influence the shaft has on the overall feel of the face. 

 

Can you take a hard/crisp feeling putter and make it feel soft just by changing the shaft? If so, any recommendations?

I mostly roll Camerons

Might be in my head, but I'm definitely not the only who feels stepped shafts feel different and less harsh than stepless

I also have an LA shaft in one of them, and that one makes it feel crisper to me

Again, maybe it's all in my head, but that's been my experience
