Questions about my new Scotty super select Newport 2

Hey,

I just got my custom specs Newport 2 super select, and I have two questions on it. You can see the specs of the putter on the pictures with this thread. First off, why do they not specify the loft more accurately than 4-5° (my custom order said I wanted 4°), not that I care too much about 1° difference, just curious, it is hand written and I can't see if it says "4-5" or "4.5". And the other question is regarding the swing weight. I failed to specify swing weight in my order (I want D6 sw), and I don't completely understand the label on the shaft that says "heavier", do all super select putters come with that label? The numbers on the shaft seem to be handwritten, and I can't really see whether the swingweight says "E-+" "E-F" or "E-1", do you suppose it is simply E0? And if I wanted to change that to D6sw, how would I change the weights? currently it has 2x30gram weights on it.

Thank you 🙂

Hmm, hard to say whether that's 4.5 or 4-5. That is a bit frustrating. Someone can correct me if i'm wrong, but your swing-weight is probably higher than E0 at 36" with 2x30gram weights; probably in the mid-to-upper E range depending on the grip you chose. You're gonna need a pretty light head-weight to get near D6 at 36". My guess is that 20gram weights would get you somewhere in the D-range, but, again, I'm just guesstimating here. I wouldn't get too caught up in targeting an EXACT swing-weight number, a lot of people overthink swing-weight, but I don't blame you if feel like you need lighter weights because 2x30g at 36" is on the heavy side for sure.

Considering at 33" standard weights are 2x40grams, 34" has 2x35grams, and 35" has 2x30grams..you'd think 36" would have 2x25gram weights following that stock weighting

If you order 4 degrees loft they will make is 4.5.  Cameron will only bend full degrees, even though 4 was their standard for decades.

Yeah, I ordered lighter aftermarket weights from ebay to try out. I feel like 2x30g is a weird move since it's 36", but maybe they don't think further than 35" in their head weight progression hmm.

That is very interesting, since scotty cameron is such a premium brand. But as I say, it doesn't bother me much since I was a bit torn between getting 4° and 5° anyway.
