loft vs. shaft

I am planning to buy a new fairway wood this year. It played nicely off of the fairway but couldn't hit the thing off of the tee because I hit it so high. I am trying to find a fairway wood which could play off of the fairway and could sit down on a green, but I could also hit off of the tee without ballooning the ball. Anyway, the question is if i get a higher launch shaft with a lower lofted head could this suffice.

...this is the age old question, and the reason why you see pro's rarely change their 3 wood. i can tell you the exotic 3 wood finally achieved all the requirements and then some. the only club that performed better was the ss 3.5. awesome off the tee, pretty good from the fairway, but the trajectory was on the low side. going with a vs proto shaft (high launch, low spin) certainly helped. that same shaft in the exotic is magic. high, low, long and forgiving. just a little shorter off the tee and from the fairway compared to the 3.5, but they are similar.

 

... wish there was a better way, but ya gotta keep trying combo's til you find the one that fits your swing.
