Reshafting my Ft-5

help

guys i am going to reshaft my Ft-5 with a MCC MFS 75 shaft. I am taking out my GD Pershing. My question is do the MCC's come in a 350 tip or am i going to have to shim the .335?

the matrix website is a little unclear, it says that the MFS 65 reg and stiff flexes have .350 tips but doesn't list a tip size for the x-flex mfs 65 or any of the mfs 75

ok thanks....i know that ft-5's cant be heated and pulled regularly what is the best way for me to reshaft it and save the old shaft?

You just need the right puller.One that is spring loaded to help add tension and use the special adaapter to keep the puller from damaging the head.You still use heat,just must be carefull where and how much is used.

sorry for all the questions here but where can i pick the same ferrule that is factory installed?

nevermind i did some research and found the clock ferrule on this site.

My buddy works on the SST Pured van and I had the same questions you have right now. He uses a 3 foot long drill bit to put down the butt end of the club. He drills out the epoxy on the inside. Then, there is a special "wax adapter" you put around the ferrule to protect the head. Then you heat it slowly and work the head off the shaft very slowly.

Golfworks has the new "adjustable" ferrule for the FT-5. What you are trying to do is very, very difficult to do correctly the first time. Honestly, I would get a tour van guy to pull the shaft for you...it is a very expensive mistake if you get the head too hot. Believe me, I have already messed up an FT-5 head doing this very thing, thankfully it wasn't mine.

Oh, no worries...it was made up intentionally to practice pulling the head. It was a tour head that my Callaway friends gave me. We were all working on trying to get good at pulling them. It didn't belong to any customers, I think we all treat our customers clubs better than our own. Thanks for being presumptuous though.

if i sent the new shaft and my driver to callaway will they charge me for the work... if so how much do they charge?

I would also say get a very experienced club reshafter to do this for you.

We called Callaway to ask if they would pull the shaft for us and they said they just cut it and drill the head. What a bunch of liars. They will reshaft the club if you buy one from them, but I don't think they will replace the shaft with one of you already own.
