Critique my garage sim build

Looking to do a build in my garage. Dimensions are specified in the photo below. Yellow spot would be the center of the mat. Current wish list on gear is:

• Uneekor mini lite
• Optoma GT1080HDR (Open to other options)
• Carl's Place Enclosure Kit (8.5x10). This will sit under the shelf and abut the wall
• Projector mount that attaches to overhead shelf (the ceiling seems too high to mount)
• Gaming PC
• I have everything else handy for the build out

 

Current challenges/concerns:

Bounce back hazard due to distance from screen

Is ~7-8ft from the screen typically enough? Is there a particular screen that is best to reduce the risk of a ball to the head?

Mounting projector to overhead shelf

I'm concerned the projector mount may be in the way. It'll be below where the brown box is. Not really interested in a floor mount, so wondering if this works?

Shim/level gradient of floor

There's a gradient near the garage door that requires some leveling. Any pointers on how to do this successfully? This will be a dedicated space, so no need to move anything once installed. I'm thinking of putting cascading foam mats or plywood boards to build up the height then firm EVA foam tiles over the top. The mat will go on top of this.

Worst case scenario

I can potentially do this project across the width of the garage, however it would mean dropping a mount from the ceiling (likely in the way of the garage door when rolled up) and offset from the wall due to the mounted equipment seen in the photo. I'm also hoping to use the other half of the garage as a gym, so don't necessarily want the sim taking up the entire garage.

How essential is the shelf on the right or the whole shelf?

Could you deconstruct it and have a screen on that back wall? Looks like it would gain you 3/4 feet. If not I think that hitting from 7 feet away works if there’s swing room, as long as the screen isn’t too tight and you put a buffer behind the screen. 
 

projector - I have the optoma short throw too works great. Had it on the floor in a dedicated protective box. Then a ceiling mount with a protective case. I’m just nervous about the projector exposed in any way.

gonna be tight. I hit about 8-9 feet away in my 20' garage. The projector should be fine but with the Optoma's you need exact placement as there is not optical zoom

I think it might have structural implications if I remove it so seems like a no-go unfortunately. I'll see if it's possible though as that's a good point

Good point on the Optoma. I think I'm starting to realize I need to go across the width of the garage if this is going to work
