Aldila Rogue 130msi Silver X or TX?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys - I've got this thing in 70X. First off, is this White or Silver? Paint is white, but accents are silver.
Second, are there major differences between the X and the TX? I like the X, but it's pretty soft in the middle. Would like the same profile, just a little tighter and crisper.
Third, my gamer is Rogue Silver 125msi 70TX. 70X 130msi feels a little cheaper and lighter. True?

Thx!

It's Rogue White and being X flex the profile is different from the Rogue Silver. The TX in White was more like the Silver 'Whiteboard' profile.

The one you have there will feel more like a 'Blueboard' profile as you've already picked up on with the softer middle.

Thx, that's what I was guessing. Any thoughts on the difference between white and silver in TX?

Silver TX is more mid-low/low while White TX is more mid/mid.  Silver also feels more linear.  I prefer the TX version in the Rogue line in general.  Feels more stout and is more stable than their X counterparts.

I agree. I have Rogue 125 Silver 70TX  in driver and Rogue Black 95 TX in hybrid. Both excellent. Just curious about this 70X softy. It's actually kind of nice when I'm feeling weak.

I prefer the Silver TX over the White TX, but then I do like the classic linear 'Whiteboard' profiles.

The White TX has a bit of play in it, could be exactly what you're looking for.

So long as the play is in the middle or handle, that could work. I've been hitting the 130msi 70X for a few days now, and it's interesting: stable enough to take advantage of the extra flex, but launches *super* high! Does not have nearly the 'quality' feel of the 125msi. I'm starting to think that materials may matter almost more than profile...

That could just be the different profile you're feeling. If you try the TX it will feel quite different from the X & very similar to your current sig gamer.

Yup. But I'm confused - if the 130 White TX just feels like the Silver 125 TX, then what does the Silver 130 feel like??

The Silver 130 is stiffer in handle & mid to a very slightly softer tip over the Silver 125. The entire White profile isn't as stiff as the Silver profile, even in TX flex for the White.... but it's close.

So the Silver 130 should feel stiffer than both the Silver 125 & White 130 TX, for differing reasons.

I don't know how familiar you are with DG but I would class the Silver 130 more X100 & Silver 125/White 130 TX more S400/300. The White X doesn't fit a DG profile due to it's softer mid.

interesting.

It's funny how subjective profile stuff is.

Like most guys I know the DG line pretty intimately.

To me, this 70X 130 White feels like an S400, maybe hard stepped a little. (It's possible I tipped it substantially. I usually tip at least 1 inch on driver. This was a glue in, semi blind bore.)

The silver 125 TX feels more like an X7 to me (one of my gamer shafts).

I haven't hit the 130 TX white or silver yet, so can't comment on those.

Thanks!

It looks like you're into stiffer overall profiles than I am so you probably identify with those more. I'm more S300/whiteboard stiff, you seem to prefer something stouter hence your feel probably being more accurate than mine with these shafts. To me they all feel a little rebar.

I'll come back around to what I've said in other threads.

My impression is that the 125 Rogue was bifurcated into the 130 White and 130 Silver in TX. The 130 White X is basically a different shaft - I should have mentioned that before, but if you haven't already, check out this thread:

To me, the greatest thing about Rogue 125 is the balance of how light weight it feels, how stiff/stable it is, and the fact that it still has a hinge/feel to it, rather than just feeling like a piece of rebar.  Often, that's an impossible trinity.  It's either incredibly lucky or incredibly brilliant design.

Sliver 130 TX will hold up to a more "primal" swing.  The reason I've enjoyed it is because I feel I can get away with swinging like a jack*** and the misses stay on the planet.  I find I need to be just a bit more prudent in how I deliver the 125, and probably the 130 White TX, as well, although my experience isn't as extensive with 130 White in X or TX.

Between 125 TX and 130 Silver TX, I couldn't tell you which I prefer in terms of feel anymore.  I've just become more acclimated to 130 Silver TX since my 125 snapped in my driver.  In terms of launch window, trajectory, and overall flight, though, 125 still is the winner.  Performance aside, from a purely aesthetic standpoint, the best "looking" drives I've hit on the course came from 125.
