Help me choose a shaft~!~!~!

Hey guys looking to reshaft my 983E this winter.

 

Currently I have the stock YS-6 stiff shaft. My swing speed (though only measured on indoor simulators) can range anywhere from 120-135MPH and usually around the 125-130 MPH mark.

 

This club is a 8.5* and i hit the ball exactly how i want to very slight draw. Problem is...i get ZERO roll. My ball most of the time usually spins back even if its the middle of summer. This is ok though on most courses I play because using rangefinders, yardage markers etc. i have "estimated" my average drive to be between 300-310 yards with NO CARRY AT ALL.

 

I'll be honest...I CRUSH the ball but it goes WAY to high, My Driver looks like a wedge.

 

So what should I get for ROLL, ACCURACY, and a LOW TRAJECOTRY, while not losing distance?

I always liked the Graffaloy blue. It launches low and if your ss is what you sa it is then your gonna need the stiffness that the blue can offer you.

The Graphite Design PM702 is a nice shaft that might work out for you.

sounds like you need a higher kickpoint on your driver shaft. just like illinikyle said, the pm702 or the pm902 would be a good shaft. it has pretty low torque ratings and a midhigh kickpoint.

you should really get your swing speed checked again.

because if it is what you say it is, then you aren't even close in shaft flex with a YS-6 S

My 2c worth would be the following:

 

With a swing speed of 125mph, I would recommend looking at the newer Nanotechnology shafts from Accuflex (Evolution) or Grafalloy (COMP NT). Make sure you buy the shaft in X-Flex not S.

 

Lastly, without knowing your exact launch angle but based on a best guess that it is pretty high, purely putting in a high kickpoint, X-flex shaft may not be enough. When installing the shaft make sure you tip it correctly to ensure a shaft frequency of about 280cpm.

 

All of these factors, the correct frequency, shaft flex and kickpoint will ultimately give you a more controllable ball flight.

 

Failing the 2 shafts listed, the Grafalloy Blue, Diamana 83 or Speeder 757 all in X flex are also good options.

Why not try the YS6+ in an X flex, sounds like you're doing pretty darn good with that shaft already and the flex change should help considerably. At about a $100 bucks installed, if you're a betting man, you should still be able to cover your Rose Bowl bets.

with that high a swing speed and the 8-9 mph difference in swing speed range.

I would look at the Accuflex line of shafts.

they have a widest range of options for your swing speed. Most companys can't handle that high speed.

 

Take a look at the Accuflex Evolution, do not tip trim it ! It only has 2" parallel tip section and your asking for trouble if you do trim it.

Check out the Assassin and the Icon Heavy weight.

 

Grafalloy Comp NT 85 is a great shaft. Several tipping options with that shaft.

 

Tourswing Vengence Tour is an excellent choice as well.

 

Just keep one thing in mind, with the bore thru of the Titleist its going to play stiffer than stated flex.
