Project X - Flighted or not?

Please can someone help me choose the shaft!

What is the advantage of flighted?

Had a mad 10 mins today and had a ho up! ordered ap2's vokey wedges and cobra woods. only decision is the iron shafts. I tried the PX regular but not the flighted but wondered what the difference was?

Help - need to confirm my order in the morning!

Project X flighted gives low launch short irons mid launch mid irons and high launch long irons. so if you need help getting the ball in the air with you long irons get the flighted otherwise the normal will be best for you

Thanks! I do struggle to get sufficient height with my longer irons which is causing me problems since I moved to a new club. My new course involves lots of water to carry. Since I get no height I have to hit more club which means I hit the green and go too far.

Does it make your wedges very low? Can you still play lob shots? Also is there a distance advantage between flighted and regular?

IMO, there is little difference in the short irons between flighted and regular rifles if any (be it regular rifles or px). For my money, the only noticeable difference is in the long irons. :good:

Aren't the AP2s' are engineered to be flighted, through the progressive hosel length and insertion depth? I would think this would lead to a lot of trial and error to find the proper flex throughout the set.

I had Ping Eye 2's fitted with Rifle Flighed 6.0's 9 years ago (I think??), 1/2" long to compensate for the older lofts. They performed brilliantly and I still have them and use them as a backup set and guest set. I went to Mizuno MP33's about 5 years ago and stuck with the flighted 6.0's and that was also a very good performer. I recently (6 months ago) purchased MP57's and went to Project X 5.5's. My fittling was 1 degree flat and I only bought the 5 through PW as I don't get around on the long irons like I used to. I went with a MP FLI-HI 4 with Dynamic Gold S300 in it. My experience with the Project X's was not good. My swing speed (98 mph/Driver) and 80-85 with irons had not changed but the Project X's seemed soft to me. Trajectory was great on precisely struck shots, but distance was dismal on mishits and dispersion was all over the place. I play in New Mexico where wind, at 15-25 mph is a factor, almost every day from April to October so getting the ball higher was not necessarily a good thing to help this dispersion problem. So I retreated back to the Rifle 6.0 solution. It is a little heavier which helps my tempo and because that is better, the MP57's are performing better at least one half to a full club better on distance marching down the line from 5 to PW. The 57's which I had found disappointing with the Project X's came to life for me with the Flighted Rifles. I had the FLI Hi fitted with a Rifle as well, standard shaft, not a hybrid shaft and that has really become a "go to" scoring club as well. With the Dynamic Gold it had higher trajectory but the 4 flighted shaft has not affected trajectory and it is far easier to hit and it goes dead straight. So for what its' worth I am in the Rifle Flighted camp. The MP57's just seem easier to hit with the Rifles than with the Project X's and in the end I suppose it is a feel thing after all. I am 58 and play to an 8 on good days which never happen often enough anymore. I love the Ping's and the MP33's, but bought the 57's because I could and because they looked so nice. Now all three have RF 6.0's so that is end of that commercial.
