Reshafting X Tour with Graphite

Just a few questions.....

I currently have the callway X Tours with S300s. I like the shafts and hit them pretty straight. however, i was thinking of reshafting them with graphite shafts as i have some tendinitis in my wrist and also some shoulder problems (was hoping that graphite might help out a bit ).

has anyone done this?
are there graphite shafts that are the same weight as steel?
are callaway irons taper or parallel?
is it easier to send to callaway or just re-shaft them in the shop?
can anyone recomend a good, not overly expensive graphite iron shaft?

sorry for the all of the questions, but i haven't been keeping up with what's out there in terms of graphite shafts......

Yes there are graphite shafts with the weight of steel...BUT!...You're going to pay for them. :russian_roulette:

 

I lucked out, my son picked up about a dozen Loomis Tour shafts for next to nothing, these are 130 gram shafts. We reshafted a set of TS-202's with them and didn't have to tip weight or lead tape anything to get them to play to D-2.

 

Aldila has a 110 115 gram shaft, and off the top of my head, I think they sell for about $300ish. Grafalloy used to sell shafts for irons, not sure now. And then there is Fujikura, you can get those in weights from 90 grams to 115 grams, I hear they go for about $125 each. I've hit those fuji shafts, 90 ish gram version, solid!

i have the GAT shafts from graphite design and think they play as stiff as s300's and launch lower for me. you dont get the bad ring either when you shank a shot.

Go to Callaway's website and look up custom iron shafts and see what is available. If one of the graphite shafts they offer fits your needs then a good starting point/reference point is to contact customer service at 18005889836.

 

Read them the serial number off the 8 iron, then explain to them what you want to have done.

"I would like to have my 3-PW X-tours reshafted with the aldila NV iron shafts in stiff graphite ect."

 

They should walk you through the process, give you a price, and lead time.

 

Then you can compare doing the work yourself, or having Callaway do it.

thanks. looks like this could be a bit expensive......

 

i saw some closeout aldila shafts on ebay (TGI 100). are these any good? i know they are a bit older, but i'm already using shafts that are 20 years old (S300)
