shaft change and swing weight ??

I have 07 Taylormade Burner driver that I'm wanting to change the shaft on. If I put a Rombax 5x07 and change the length to 45", would there be a significant change in swingweight (not that I would notice it)? The stock swing weight per the TM site is D5.

It's tough to say without knowing the length and weight of the current shaft that's in the club.

 

The rule of thumb is 9g of shaft weight equals 1 swingweight point, and each 1/2" of extra shaft length (or loss thereof) equals approximately 3 swingweight points.

Sorry I should have posted put the current specs.

 

Its the stock burner shaft, 50g and 46". The Rombax is regular flex, 57g. So based on the rule of thumb, I'm looking at between D0 and D1? being increasing shaft weight increases swing weight and shortening shaft lenght decrease swing weight.

Based on the above, an estimate of the likely swingweightwill be around that figure.

 

If you're dead set on a D5 swingweight, it'll likely involve adding some weight to the head, which can potentialy soften the flex by a noticable amount.

 

That said, try the club first before wading in with lead tape or any hot melt. 6 or 7 grams isn't a massive amount of difference in shaft weight, and my experience is that many people who shorten their drivers end up hitting the driver better than they did before - even when the swingweight scale is telling them they need to add some weight to get it back to the previous swingweight.
