Can you bend OPEN the iron?

I hook everything with my 7-SW
Even with relatively non-offset clubs, I tend to pull with my shorter irons - I guess it's just the way I come through the ball and my hand position = because with the longer irons, since they have relatively flat faces and angles, I hit them perfectly well where I want it, in either direction.
With the shorter irons, I really have to make a move this way and that to make it straighter than left, and most of the time, I overcompensate and I hit sky flops that go nowhere instead of nice, clean straight dead-on target shots.
So I love my long irons.
What I mean is I want to be able to make the same strong move without having to tweak it for my shorter irons.

You can bend the faces a little more open too, right, instead of just fixing the lie and loft?
Obviously all I need is a degree or two at most, I thought about doing it with weights, but I just need to make the thing look correct at address for me to feel that straight face.

I'm hitting the Callaway X-Forged right now.

Thanks

you can bend your golf swing to hit a fade... seriously I don't know but it sounds more like band aid than getting to the root of the problem.

But I hit my long irons perfectly. I love to grab my 4 or 3 irons than my 9 or 8. With the long irons, I know I can hit them flush and straight every time, and then with a little move, I can go this way or that.

Of course I tweak my shorter irons to do the same, but the tendency is that the ball gets pulled with my normal straight swing that I put on it.

So I was thinking........

After reading your post and the other's comments, it occurred to me that I have the same problem. But, in my case, it is because I don't turn with my shorter clubs. When I remember to turn, I hit them right where I am looking. So, I essentially hit a pull because my lower body is not involved in the swing. I notice it mostly with the 8 iron, because the miss is really off, but know that it happens with all my wedges too.

Maybe worth looking into.

I agree, check your lie angles, probably too upright. Also your ball position may be too far forward, try moving the ball back in your stance.

Yeah i wouldn't look to stick a band aid on this problem by opening the face. I would probably just get your lie angles checked and then work out your short iron swing a little more. You have a problem that is quite the opposite of most people in that you'd rather hit your long irons. Definitely keep that confidence in your long irons but try to tweak your short iron swing a little more - as some people have said make sure you're getting good rotation and you have a little more of an upright swing than you do with your long irons.

You mean the opposite? That I come through too quickly with my hands and arms and not enough correct timing with my body lean? I've been told I'm a little bit handsy and that I need to be more arm-y, connecting with my body rotation and hit down on the ball, that I am still sweeping. But honestly when I dig, that's when I really hook it. So, if I lay off it, then I flop it and I lose distance and it's short right.

May be it is a little bit forward - gosh it's so confusing right now, because as I bring it further back, it feels like my shoulder is closing too and I want to really turn my hand over!!! and I end up hook-rolling it.

My clubs are all 2-degrees flat already, actually.

Yeah I love to "goto" my 4 and 3 irons = I love smacking them any time. Totally relaxed and feel good with those clubs, any lie, any angle, ball below, above, you name it, I just feel good. The flex is nice, I know the trajectory, it's going to go where I aim and I make adjustments up or down if I need more or less from the thicker stuff or not.

Then it gets to my 7-SW and I totally lose it. I get nervous - I honestly don't know where it's going to go. I used to love my 100-yard clubs, I would lay up no problem to there and hit rock solid but now......... I feel like I have to work so damned hard to make it stay in that line, and I get all jammed up or roll it over. So many times I've yanked it left! Otherwise it's that flop right! So strange.
