Reshafting Cobra Pro Speed D

Need some help!!!

Hi ALL,

So this is my first post here. I REALLY like it so far! Lots of positive attitudes...finally.

My question is this... I plan on reshafting my 10.5 Pro Speed with a pull from my R5 TP (Diamana 83X). I tried to go softer with the Aldila Proto, but I hit it all over the place.

I have read some things about a specific measure (BBGM) or something like that, which is, I think, a little different with this club. What should I do so that this club comes out TRUE to flex OR a shade SOFTER??

Welcome! The BBGM describes how far the tip of the shaft sits from the sole and it is found by taking the difference between clublength and shaft length. The shorter the BBGM, the more of the stiffer butt-section is in play, and the stouter the shaft will feel (USUALLY).

The BBGM of the R5 TP iirc is around 1 3/4", while on the Speed Pro D it's more like 2 3/8", so if you just install the shaft untipped and butt-cut to length it'll play considerably softer (probably heavier, too - the Cobra probably weighs around 205). I think what I'd suggest is this - dry-fit the shaft into the Cobra and measure clublength and swingweight. My guess is that you'll find that it measures 45 5/8" and swingweights up around D6. If that's the case, trim 1/4" off the tip and 3/8 off the butt, and expect slightly softer performance than in the TM:^)
