Skymarked my new Ping G10 three wood with the about the 25th ball.

Just got it this week. Hit it twice on the course and then was hitting it with the pro and hit one BIG TIME fat and skymarked it. Grabbed the black shapie and you ALMOST cant see it...well you really have to look for it. Oh well, it is a tool right?

It is indeed. I have no problem with rocks etc... putting dings on the soles of my irons. Skymarks on the other hand.... I was playing Golden Horseshoe last year and blew a tee shot right of right and ended up kinda flipping my driver off to the side of the tee box and heard the unmistakable sound of titanium on cart path...ugh! I took the sharpie out and like you, almost made it invisible. The kicker is I ended up paring the hole! Talk about feeling like an idiot!

Ouch, the sky marks stink!

 

Instead of the Sharpie, check out your local hardware store or Golf Galaxy for a rubbing compound in a silver "toothpaste-like" tube called FLITZ. Unless you have scratched through the paint, this stuff will take out almost any sky mark, scuff, light scratch, or haze.

It's a shallow 3 wood - what I like about it. Still, I was shocked at the skymark(s) I had put on the club with just normal use. I don't tee it high, and don't recall any popups or moonballs...

I hate skymarks too! At least you were the one that did it, I let my cheapskate brother hit my G5 when it was brand new and he promptly put the biggest sky mark on it that I have ever seen. He handed it back to me and said he didn't like it and he couldn't figure out how I hit it so well. I could have killed him. I took a few deep breaths, counted to 10, and told him he couldn't hit it because he sucks at golf. We normally play $5 bucks a hole, I proceeded to win the next 11 holes.......which he never paid me for.

 

The suggest of the Flitz rubbing compound is a good one, you could also use some scratch removing compound that you can buy from an automotive supply store. I have used the Mothers compound with some success.
