Casa de Campo?

Anyone been to the Dom Repub and stayed/played?

My wife and I are looking to plan our summer vacation and I was reminded about Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic. Has anyone been there? Stayed at the resort? Played? How is the Dominican Republic?

The holes of Teeth of the Dog on the Water are ridiculous.

I liked Dye Fore more than the people I was with, it is up in the hills without many trees and huge dropoffs and rolling fairways. The Links course is nothing special. The rooms are nice but I don;t know what the weather will be like in the summer - it was perfect everyday when I was there over Christmas.

I have been there a couple of times for some pro ams and look forward to going back every year. Teeth of the Dog and Dye Fore are absolutely beautiful and the Links course is a very fun track. If you are looking for a beach style resort this may not be the one for you. Yes there is a beach but it is very small. If you are there for just golf and great eating then it is perfect. The weather was great. (january) The sun is very intense so bring plenty of sunblock. Like I said I look forward to the trip every year it is worth it.

I might have to disagree with you about the food. But who cares about food when you have 7 holes lining the water.

I'll be there for the golf, but I know the wife will want the beach. I really appreciate that bit of information about the beach.

 

On a side note, TJ really liked you on the big break and wish you all of the best. If you are ever in Atlanta you will have to drop me a line and hopefully we can hook up a round of golf. FYI: [email protected].

 

Does anyone have any other suggestions for a beach vacation with great golf?

I personally thought the food was good especially in Altos de Chavon but thats my opinion because some of the guys didn't like it as much as me. The villa we stay in is good with a maid and a butler. Now that is probably the only time I will ever say that in my life :-).

Well, I was speaking mainly about the places on site near the golf course. Altos de Chavon is a really nice area.

 

TJ, let me know if you ever want to play at Blue Hill in Canton.

 

Kingsummers, where do you play in Atlanta? I graduated from Emory last May and took advantage of lots of the great deals in the area for my four years there. Much better golfing town than Boston. Also, for juniors out there, Emory was just ranked by Golf Digest as the #1 Golf School for a Balance of Golf & Academics.
