Some of the top content creators in golf battling it out for a spot at an official PGA Tour event? Yeah, it’s happening next month.

The Monday qualifer for the 2024 Myrtle Beach Classic is called The Q at Myrtle Beach and it will feature 16 players competing for a sponsor exemption into the tournament at Dunes Golf and Beach Club in South Carolina.

The Myrtle Beach Classic, a new event on the Tour schedule in 2024, will be played May 9-12 and will feature a purse of $3.9 million, with 300 FedExCup points awarded to the champion. It’s an opposite-field event held the same week as the Wells Fargo Championship.

The Q at Myrtle Beach field includes 16 players, many with ties to South Carolina, including eight of the most prominent golf content creators.

All professional and amateur competitors meet the PGA Tour tournament regulations for sponsor exemptions and will be eligible if they qualify.

The 18-hole shootout will be March 4 at TPC Myrtle Beach. It will be closed to the public, but a 90-minute video will be released on Play Golf Myrtle Beach’s YouTube page on April 23, and the content creators will post videos on their respective channels documenting their experiences.

It's an opposite field event that almost no one would watch otherwise. To me, this makes sense for them to try to draw eyeballs. The better question is if this event should even EXIST (along with at least 6 other PGA tour events).

The tournament can let in whoever they want. Either play better to get in or get an audience. 
 

now if that guy comes in 10 shots behind last place then maybe they should reconsider.

it has to exist if wells fargo is elevated.

considering how many sponsors exemptions shoot 80s and the policy hasnt changed yet i wouldnt hold my breath. maybe if the sponsors exemption wds midway in the first round they may add a fitness test to the qualifications ;}

By the their own rules yes, it does. I am saying from a "fan's interest perspective" not "creating as many playing opportunities as possible" perspective. Most major sports have off seasons, PGA tour goes through the entire year because they are incentivized to create as many playing possibilities as possible for their members. I am saying....that is dumb and only really benefits the lower run PGA tour members and not the golf watching public. This will basically be a KFT event.

I think this is great and I will watch it. The PGA and media savvy pros are finally starting to embrace the YouTube golf subculture and all will be better for it in my opinion.

Some of those guys are actual pro golfers.  One of them will win.   I bet the other Peter Finch could beat Peter Finch.

IMO George Bryan and Luke Kwon would be the favorites.  They've both made Tour cuts before.  I'll be watching.

George Bryan made a cut on the PGA tour last season and lost to his brother, a PGA tour winner, in a play-off for a different Monday Q.    So I think he more than deserves to be there.  

I think it's a smart move for the tournament, and will generate more interest.   I'll bet one of the KF boys or Turk Pettit goes really low to take the win,  but some of the youtube fellas have a respectable showing.

Busta - 89 (watching him chip into the grain Bermuda is going to be brutal)

Madjack - 73

Dan Rapaport - I don't know who he is

Grant Horvat - 70

Fat Perez - 82 (he doesn't have the length for that course and those greens don't like long approaches)

George Bryan - Clean 67 that takes the dub

Great idea to draw some eyeballs from a younger audience.  Some of these guys are legitimately good golfers (Luke Kwon, George Bryan). Also I‘m rooting for Turk Pettit because it’d be hilarious if he’s the first player to play in a PGA Tour event after going to LIV

I'm all for it.  This is an event I would otherwise rarely watch (the actual Myrtle Beach Classic event.)  With some of these YT creators trying to make the field, I will follow it.  I'll watch some of the YT and podcasts leading up to the event, and the follow the qualifying results.  

 

I have zero issues with events providing exemptions to non PGAT level players.  I wish one of them would actually work to bring in a group of top LPGA talent.  Have a 3-group of Lydia, Nelly, and Charley.  Not just Lexi when she was in the middle of her worst slump of her career.

Funny enough, there was an article a few days ago about a LET player being sponsored by OnlyFans.  And not in a T&A sorta way.  More of a behind the scenes as a pro golfer gets about her day to day life on tour:

 

 

 

Apparently Nick Kyrgios (male pro tennis star) did it last year.  

 

I honestly didn't know much about OnlyFans, and assumed it was all pron.

There are a few pretty legit pros in this. Matt atkins and Scott Stevens will masacre Peter finch
