Dynalite Gold "XP"

What is it? How is it diff from just Dynalite GOLD

Title says it all.

What is this shaft Mizuno is currently offering? Can't find anything on True Temper's site about it. I own MX-23s with the "old" Dynalite Gold and have hit the MX-200s with the "new" Dynalite Gold XP and don't notice much difference.

Any insider information out there? Why doesn't True Temper have any info out yet?

Anyone else? I'd really like the "story" behind this new shaft before pulling the trigger on some MX-200s. Emails to Mizuno have gone unaswered.

Dynalite XP is currently a Mizuno only product and not a standard catalog item thus the no information on the TT website. The shaft is a re-design/updated version of Dynalite Gold. A little lighter at 113g and softer tip than Dynalite Gold for a higher ball flight. It tested out better with Mizuno than Dynalite Gold did so they made the switch in the new MX line.

WOW, softer tip ??!!! As a guy who's been playing Dynalite Gold for the past 15 years I hope True Temper will be keeping the Dynalite Gold line-up around from a long time to come!!!

I think that it's a softer tip than Dynalite in the way the the tip of a Project X is softer than DG, i.e. gets the ball up faster but with less spin.

Yea but a "softer" tip than a Dynalite Gold scares me a bit even if spin is somehow reduced. To me anything softer means a looser shaft and lose of control.

 

Am I wrong or isn't Project X a lower launching shaft than Dynamic Gold?

The EI profile of Dynalite Gold is not very soft at all. Yes its a low kick point shaft, but from butt to mid section it is as stiff as Dynamic Gold.

 

The taper rate of the XP is different and when I say softer tip I mean more flexible. Like all other shafts, getting fit for the right flex will determine your accuracy. That and the level of your golfing skills of course.

God no! PX in extra-stiff (say 6.5) will fire the ball a lot higher than S300 DG but with a lot less spin.

Nothing for sure but I think the original Dynalite Gold design will be retired within the next two years. DG High Launch and the XP are very suitable replacements.

Just no end to the innovation at American Fork and Hoe. The only thing driving these guys was Royal Precision's Rifle which they bought, Nippon and KBS now. If not for this we would still be playing the same shafts they made 30 years ago. Ooops we are. The future will be with companies like Aerotech and the world will be some form of graphite, carbon fibre, or steel mix.

So would it be safe to say Dynalite gold xp x100 would play just as stiff even with a softer tip?
