If you don't mind those conditions, you should be able to catch a couple of days. It really doesn't get that cold down here.

you will really just have to keep an eye on the weather channel. If you get a afternoon tee time more than likely you will be good to go. Plus the green fees should be pretty good this time of year. Hope it helps.

The weather in south Alabama will be warmer than northern Alabama. The southern RTJ courses are located in Prattville, Greenville, Auburn, Mobile, and Dothan. I ususally play year around. In January, you will have numerous days in the high 40's or low 50's. This last weekend we saw temperatures in the 70's.

As the previous poster stated, watch the Weather Channel and you should be good to go.

I live in Birmingham and have the next two days of golf in the 60's. But... Wed. is supposed to be in the 40's. So, you just never know what you're going to get. However, I can assure you that you'll find nice courses at reasonable prices. Let me know if you want to venture outside the RTJ, I can point you to a few other quality tracks.

Thanks for the heads up on some other courses, but i think were just gonna do the 3 days all you can play for $135 on the RTJGT.

Maybe a 4th day i could take a look at some other courses. Where do you suggest? Thanks

You will not be disappointed with Farmlinks well worth it. Never played Ross Bridge I hear it's nice. Limestone is good, I would place it 3rd best on your list. It is a nice place to play. The food is pretty good as well. Just make sure you go in and eat, don't get the box lunch. I will try and think of some suggestions for places to eat. We just don't have a place that will knock your socks off like Lou's deep dish.

Ping Got your email, thank you! Am I making a mistake playing Ross Bridge or should I play Kiva Dunes or Craft farms instead?

Ross bridge is in Birmingham close to the other three course you have selected. I have never played Kiva Dunes or Craft Farms. They are in the Mobile area which is about 3-3.5 hours away. Ross Bridge is fairly new and they have a Senior Tour event there. I think you will love the three course you are planning on.

Sorry about the confusion on the last post The food I was talking about was at farmlinks, that is where you need to go in and eat lunch at the turn.

Let me know if you need any more help.

Ross Bridge is a nice course and is relatively easy compared to other RTJ Trail courses. Of course, you can go crazy and try and play it from the tips... 8,200 yds. However, the course is very beautiful and you should enjoy the experience.

Brother, fortunately my ego is not that big where I have to satisfy it by playing that long of a course! I did see that insane yardage on their website. Why would you ever want to play a course that long?? That is crazy.

I agree, and in fact, nobody plays it from the tips (unless you really are crazy! LOL!), not even the pros. They built many of the Trail courses with total yardage at 8,000+ yds so they would have the flexibility to mix and match the lengths for tournaments. That is what they do at Ross Bridge for the Senior tour event that is played there. I asked one of the Assistant Pros if he had ever played the tips and he just laughed and said, "No way!"

When we played Ross Bridge there we hit from the third set of tees and they were playing about 7,000 yds. There was one more set between us and the tips and I think it was around 7,400 yds.

Have fun!
