I sold my clubs today....

Well that's a bit of a misleading title---I didn't sell my current "in use" clubs, but I sold my old friends....

Ping Eye2's---original square grooves. 2-SW, 3-PW are matching serial #'s. Black dot, standard length. I bought them used from the assistant pro at my home course back home in Washington, and have owned them nearly 20 years.

Played 100's of tournaments with them....Fours years of varsity high school golf....Four top 10 finishes in the state championships with two 2nd place finishes....Shot my personal best round ever with them....Played Pebble Beach with them....

They've been in the closet for the last 6 years never used......Sold to an up & coming kid here in the area that is absolutely bonkers over them, kinda like I was so many years ago. They've gone to a good home.

Dammit I miss them already. ;)

Know how you feel. Had the same clubs for about 25 years before i traded them in on a set of mizunos late last year. Like you, i shot my best rounds with them. Should have just kept them to play with on occasion.

I did the same thing. In 1988 I was 16 and bought a a set of copper Ping Eye 2 irons 1-L wedge. I played with them for 12 years. I made the mistake of selling them a few years ago, but I bought a set in better condition than mine last year for less than I sold mine for.

The kid who bought them knows all about the older Pings......He was rattling off important dates, variations, etc that had me confused. LOL

My swing has changed due to injuries and requires a flatter lie angle than what the Eye2's were. For sentimental reasons they've hung around while I've waited to find someone who could appreciate them. Their new owner is the right person for them.

Maybe I'm too anal retentive about my stuff--I do the same thing with my cars--but when an item is special, it's hard to let it go to just anybody.

Hopefully a set of red dot or orange dots will come along at the right price. Ping wanted over $500 to refurb mine and reset the lie angles. YIKES!

no..that makes complete sense. you had some of your "old days" with those clubs and they had a special meaning to you. you just want to make sure the new owner appreciates this.

Its amazing what you will sell, just to make a few bucks. I sold a set , that i played Pebble Beach with back a long time ago for about 300 bucks, 2 days later I was sick to my stomach and my friend didn't want to give them back. We sure get attached to our friends don't we. I hear ya loud and clear. Those eye 2's are classics.

true ping story, I bought and sold my original set of ping eye2s twice, AND I WILL NEVER LET THEM GO AGAIN. I don't play them any more, but they will be burried with me, LOL.
