Newport Tour vs. 009

Hey guys,

I've been a long time lurker but I guess this is an appropriate first post.

 

I've been familiar with SC's 009 putters but I've never seen a Newport Tour.

 

Would you please indicate the differences for me and what your opinions or thoughts are on this one:

009 has a thicker toplins and bigger bumpers. Umm that one I am not sure if I would bid on or not I would hold out for a nicer one if you can. The initials dont look like scotty did them, but I could be wrong, you could buy it send it in and have it be made for a touring pro.

I'm not sure what to think about that putter. It's nice, but the market is so soft.... and you're often rewarded for waiting and finding exactly what you want.

 

Instead of Newport Tour vs. 009 this topic should be name Rediculously Overpriced vs. Even More Rediculously Overpriced.... Or just Ripoff vs Ripoff, whatever you prefer.

Personally, I don't think those Newport Tours are worth the premium . . . that one essentially is just a hand-stamped Mil-Spec. I'm sure there are plenty of Cameron collectors who disagree with me on this.

 

The 009s, on the other hand, are more appealing. Sure they're expensive, but at least they're totally unlike any Cameron you can buy off the rack.

j0npeterson, the only reason you're saying my post was worthless is because you probably own a Newport Tour or 009. It's my opinion that stamping "009" or "Circle T" on a putter is certainly not worth $2000+...please don't be so sensitive. I'm just trying to save Max some money on a "worthless" stamp.

No, the reason I say your post is worthless is because it doesn't offer anything remotely valuable to thread.

 

I don't recall Max asking how he could save money by purchasing either type of putter based on your assumed value or worth.
