Upgrade Clicgear 1.0 Wheels

Purchased a Clicgear 1.0 more than a year ago and have put more than fifty rounds on it since. I've been pleased with it, but I have to admit to some annoyance at constantly having to put air in the pneumatic tires, and I was even more annoyed when the Clicgear 2.0, which has solid foam tires, hit the market shortly after I bought mine.

Early this month, while browsing the Clicgear website, I discovered that they offered a retrofit wheel kit that replaced the pneumatic tires on the 1.0 with the new solid foam tires. The price, $50, seemed a hair steep, but after weighing the alternatives, I decided to buy.

When I attempted to order, the website reported that the item was out of stock and advised that I should check back on 04/06. On 04/07, I checked the site, found the kit in stock, and ordered it. Two weeks later, when I hadn't heard anything, I called Clicgear. They reported that they couldn't keep up with orders and fast-tracked my order.

The kit arrived the other day, and I couldn't be happier. It took less than five minutes to swap out the wheels and they fit and work perfectly. I figure I'll get several more years of use out of the cart, which makes the $50 a reasonable investment. Way to go, Clicgear!!

Glad to hear you like the retrofit wheels. I have the 'regular' tires also and have considered spending the $50 to upgrade. You're making my decision easier.

I did it a few months ago, it is worth it in my opinion. I just leave the cart in the garage, and pull it out when I need it, it is good to go. The roll isn't quite as smooth, but I expected that given the change in their profile.

I did this as well, and I actually like the new wheels. I thought they would roll roughly, but I find them very easy to push. I think a little easier actually, than the tires! I'd do it, unquestionably.

The new models are selling well, I see them go out the door almost daily.

I just bought a Like NEw CG 1.0 for a steal but it is annoying as you guys said to use the pump. In the process of unscrewing the pump, it seems like the air comes off more than anything. I think I shall give it a shot for now and see if I can purchase the tires at a later date.

I put the new tires on mine last summerl and couldn't be happier too. Worth every penny!

How would you compare the ride between the two types of tires?

 

I have the 1.0 Clicgear and it can get tiresome dealing with that little pump, but I love the air-filled ride it provides.

 

A friend of mine filled his tires with air and applied some bicycle tire sealant, "ooze" or something and hasn't looked back.

The ride is a little softer with the air filled tires. But its negligible, I don't regret switching one bit.

+1 on the wheel kit! I did this a few months ago and it was worth the $50... I also got the bottle holder and umbrella holder upgrades for just a few dollars each.

 

Being an engineer, the thing that I enjoyed is that the clicgear is very well designed.. you can tell somebody put some though into each detail.
