Looking to see if it is worth the money...

hey all,

just wondering if anybody has ever gone through the fitting process on golfballselector.com. i remember reading about the site a while back and was intrigued but can't seem to pull the trigger on paying to get fit. anyone out there use this? was it worth it? did it provide good info?

It will be interesting to hear this... I can't see how it can be without a real launch monitor data. Seems like a wast of money to me.

I use it all the time.

If you do a search in this forum, you'd see my recent comments about it.

In summary, my results are good to iffy. Their recommendations can change completely when they refresh their ball list (which they did about a week ago). The also seem a little bias towards either Nike or Titleist. My rule of thumb is to ignore their first choice and to test the top 3-5 and choose.

One note is that your stats have a much greater impact on the ball recommendations than the 13 personal preference questions.

Also, if I may be so bold, since they sponsor this Golf ball forum, the year membership is much more worth it that the single test option. It's unlikely that you'd get your absolute preferences right the first time around, based on the first set of results you get. Sure you can play with the percentages at the end of the test to get different results even on the single test but there are some caveats. The biggest is that in no way shape or form does their #1 recommendation change.

I went from 100% concerned about distance to 100% about feel and it didn't change though the others did. This why my comment about ignoring the #1 was stated.
