Honma Beres MG713

I'm fairly new to this forum and this is my first post. Just wanted to get your opinion on the Honma Beres MG713 driver. Just got a set of Epon AF-701s and am currently in the market for a matching driver. Many thanks.

As for the Beres 713... it is a good club IF and ONLY if it fits your swing. If you could tell us more about your current setup, swing speed, tempo, distance, and any launch monitor numbers, any or all of those pieces of information would be helpful

 

In general - the 713 is geared towards a slower, smoother swing, the flex, even if listed as an S, will be softer than an S-flex in other Beres drivers like the TW912/913 for example.

 

The face on the 713 is also closed if memory serves - so if you have an easy swing and sometimes have trouble fading the ball, this could be a great club for you. If you have an agressive swing and hit a draw, this club would drive you nuts, while a 912 or 913 might be heaven.

Thanks K2 2. My driver SS is about 85MPH and hit it about 200 - 220. I'm working on smoothening my swing as I currently have a fairly abrupt downswing. I have a Tour Burner with a custon GD YSQ 55 gram shaft in S flex and an old Honma Amazing Spec 460 in R flex -- the Burner has better control but the Honma is longer. Both shafts are 45.5".

 

The Honma drivers provide a very desirable "pop" which gives instant gratification for solid hit shots. Thanks again for your comments.

It sounds like the MG713 might be a good fit - also, it sounds like you have tried the club out, which is always helpful as well!
