Got to try out the new callaway shaft fitting system today. Very interesting way to have/try all the combinations. Evidently the 6 or so shaft package will now include a Diamana (63, 73, 83). It works very well, you can tell the shaft isn't glued in place and you don't need to have the head taped which can impact the launch and spin (sometimes good and sometimes bad). This will be especially good news for the lefties who can now try everything which a dealer wasn't inclined to carry.

Had all the variations of the X-Tour wedges, but that is old news by now. Everywhere April 1. Sadly the 2 ball SRT (which many people have preordered) won't be out now until mid June. Problems with the ring weights fitting properly. The new XG putter almost feels like those real soft STXs from years ago. Way too soft for me but some may like it. I also noticed the last few weeks Ernie Els has been using a center shafted 2 white steel putter. Doesn't seem to be doing any better than the Scotty however.

Really well done fitting system for the callaway. I forgot to ask, however, if it was just for the FT-3 or if they were going to have a similar one for the X-460. Seems callaway may have shot themselves in the foot making the X-460 a better driver than the premium FT-3. Sound, distance, looks, feel, ability to work the ball---just a few things like that :)

The rep. did say he was anxious to see what was planned for the second generation of the X-Tours. He said to his knowledge (not a typical rep., he has always known what he is talking about) it isn't all of this sole or top line grinding that is being seen on the web (Ts etc.). Those are protos that the tour guys wanted and there are no plans for those at retail. I returned a set of the Ts that had the sole "thinned" to them that they had loaned me to try (absolutely no difference in any situation compared to the standard OEM model).

June???? As usual it's in the middle of the season long after I NEED a driver in the bag.

That's probably because they are still testing various shafts with the X-460. They probably have a pretty good handle on which ones work with the FT-3 by now. I asked about several other shafts for the X-460 (like the Diamana) and even though they are listed in the little rep. sales/specs. book I was told they won't build any of those until summer.
