Refinishing Ping Irons

Has anyone sent a set back for refinishing?

I have a set of I3 O-size that I'm thinking about sending back to Ping for refinishing. They said they buff the sole and leading edge, retumble the heads, apply new paint fill, and put on a new shaft band for $18 a club. Has anyone ever sent a set or club to Ping for refinish? How was the experience? Were you satisfied with the results? The set is 3-PW,GW,SW. I will probably only send the 5-GW back since the 3 and 4 look almost new. Any experience with this would help me out a bunch! I'll post before and after pics if I send em in. Thanks

I have seen sets that have had it done and they look as if they're brand new. It's well worth it.

Not to toot my auction but here are some pics of mine that I sent in since you asked. They came back and they are like new. If ebay auctions aren't allowed, any mods out there can certainly delete my post, I won't be offended.

PING does incredible work. You will swaer they exchanged your used ones for new. They should charge way more..........but don't tell em' I said that!

Hoosier...I've sent two sets back over the years and some wedges. Without a lot of detail to make you sift through..."Do it"!! People and service are marvelous, and the quality is first rate.

i had a set of zing 2 irons refurbished at ping in gainsborough uk.. could not have been more pleased.

I purchased a used set of Ping Eye 2's back in the early 90's. It was exactly the set I was looking for, but was not in the best condition. I was familiar with the Ping refinishing service offered in AZ so I bought the set and immediately sent them back to Karsten in AZ for refinishing. I was not disappointed. When my Eye2's came back about 2 weeks later, they were in brand new condition ... and I'm talking brand new. Iron heads were all refinished, clean, buffed and repainted. Shafts were polished clean and re-labeled. They looked absolutely stunning. I do not know what Ping/Karsten is charging per club these days, but back in the 90's it was very in-expensive. And again, you'll be getting a brand new (looking) set of clubs in return. Do not hesitate. Send 'em in before the season gets underway.

how much does PING actually charge for refinishing?

17.75 per iron plus $14 return shipping.

I would like to see how they do it because they don't remove the shafts.

I recently bought a set of refinished S-59 tours from an "unnamed online auction site" the previous owner said that they had been done. I thought nothing of it until I received them. wow,wow,wow. I was scared to hit them, they looked absolutely fantastic. when really looking at them closely you could see a couple nicks/scratches. All paint was touched, all grooves checked. I was told by a Ping outfitter that if the grooves are getting a little skinny, they regroove them as part of the process.

It is definately worth it if you are keeping the clubs, nothing like the feel of a "new" club in your hands.
