Would be great to see Ernie winning with an Odyssey... Oh man Scotty... Tiger isn't play the way I hoped. And Ames is playing good so far. But he will break down for sure...

What would be so great about Els winning? Is it fun to see Ames collapse?

Ames is going to hold his own. I don't know what it is with people capping on Ames because he got thrashed by Tiger. It's not like Ames played bad that day, he made a ton of pars. TW was on fire that day, nothing Ames could do. Sure, he should not have made the goofy comment, but the media blew it up, TW took advantage and so it goes. It has nothing to do with today.

It's not like Ames is a horrible golfer. He almost won this thing four years ago and through no fault of his own the chipping gods decided to crown Perks the winner.

Another observation from the TV coverage is Johnny Miller is being just a little harsh on Ames, it's like he is rooting for him to collapse.

i certainly am. and no everyone in England doesn't wear pin stripe suits and bowler hats and carry a black umbrella, drink cups of tea all day, get a red London bus to work, say old chap and tallyho to everyone, speak like or look like Prince Charles and i'm not a chimney sweeper!

And thankfully Brits don't all post like you do. There is no need to monopolize a thread with such nonsense. Comment on his game if you will, even comment on anything he says to the press, but the horse comments are not needed here. Thank you.

When you review the past winners in the last five years, it becomes more apparent to me why this tournament is not in the same category as the four major tournaments.

The course is good but not great. The course design creates numerous lucky bounces, and it allows average PGA tour players to win the event with more frequency than occurs in the four majors.

Recent Past Winners

Craig Perks: 2002

Fred Funk: 2005

Stephen Ames: 2006

I would argue the British Open and PGA are lesser majors than the Master's or US Open. The only "crap" winners of those 2 in recent memory are Mike Weir and Jim Furyk.

Ames 's brilliant performance today was something.. even Johnny Miller was impressed by his shotmaking putting and attitude. Good day for Canada, trinidad , britain .. all in the same guy. Great golf M. Ames.

Don't forget Portugal - his mom is from there - dad from England.

Great play by Ames. A fantastic round on a course that punishes you mentally.

Unbelievable display of mental control and a swing that held up under pressure.

Fun to watch.

Garcia is a choker

That's a pretty brutal way of putting it but it is absolutely the case. If the grey matter between his ears ever catches up to his raw athletic ability he'll be dangerous. At this point their camp might be best served if daddy/coach goes to university and gets a masters in psych. and starts working on the real prob. I hate to be so brutal and negative. It just hurts to see a guy with such amazing skills crumble in the final round again and again.

    • In-hand photos of 2023 TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus, Stealth 2, Stealth 2 HD drivers + fairways woods
Check out our front page launch stories here and here.

What you need to know: For the first time, carbon is the most prevalent material by volume in a TaylorMade driver, and more carbon equals better performance, says the company. Last year, TaylorMade debuted a 60X Carbon Twist Face. With TaylorMade Stealth 2, engineers are bringing carbon to more of the golf club — and unveiling a new-and-improved Carbon Twist Face in the process. Stealth 2 Plus (low spin, most workable) Stealth 2, and Stealth 2 HD (draw bias, high launch, most forgiving) drivers make up the Stealth 2 family.

What you need to know: Breakthrough movable weight technologies and versatile designs are the hallmarks of the 2023 TaylorMade Stealth 2 fairway woods. Stealth 2 Plus is branded as “three fairway woods in one” owing to the unique performance characteristics afforded by the 50-gram sole weight. Stealth 2 features a slightly lower profile 3D carbon crown than Stealth. This moves CG down and away from the toe with more weight in the rear of the club for higher launch and MOI. Ultra-high MOI Stealth 2 HD features an oversized 200cc head and low-profile sole, creating an easy-to-hit, draw-biased club.
