I looked at the best prices I could find on ebay. Prices varied considerably.

Leupold GX-II Slope - $366

Bushnell 1500 Slope - $299

Bushnell Tour V2 Slope - $290

To answer your question, I would get the Bushnell 1500.

Now let me qualify my answer. I own a Bushnell Scout 1000, no slope. It's basically the same as the V2. It works great (exceeded my expectations) and the price at the time was about $150 with rebate, now $194 with no rebate (walmart.com). If I had it to do over, I would still buy the same one. Slope calculations are not important to me. Since you are set on the slope version, I would get the 1500 given the V2 and 1500 are so close in price. I don't believe the Leupold is worth another $67 above the 1500. Based on looking at a lot of reviews, I do believe the 1500 will have a better performance than the V2 (Longer yardage range and a longer battery life). The only downside is that it is a little larger.

These are all quality rangefinders and should will work well on the course. Good luck with whichever you choose.

Thanks,

I agree i can't justify the extra $$$ on the Leupold. My buddy shop sells the Bushnell he's going to let me take it out for a demo, i hope he has the 1500 or V2.

There is a reason that most of the pros are using the Bushnell line of rangefinders.

I can vouch for the Leupold GX2 which I have. I love it and I can't knock the Bushnell or other brands because I just never used rangefinders in the past nor specific ones to compare. I also have the uPro to fall back on if the rangefinder (Leupold) doesn't cut it for me but that is not the case here. In all honestly, having both may seem like an overkill which I guess if you are on a budget, definitely an overkill but the Leupold has saved me countless of times where I run the uPro battery through 6 rounds (yes, that's a lot and I was lazy to recharge).

Back to the Leupold, the reason I purchased this is for the simple fact that I like the small size of it and the loaded pack features it has. Yes, for the price, some may not seem like it's worth it. Slope, TGR, Club Suggestion features are pretty cool and relatively very accurate.

I hear people compare about speed of picking up distance, honestly, in practical real life situation, you don't need lightning fast readings. In other words, I don't think speed in picking up distances should be used a baseline for comparison. Secondly, in my opinion, I also hear how some devices can pick up distances at longer yardage range. I can see how this can be helpful if you want to know exactly how far the flag is from wherever you are but for myself, once again, real practical situation, if it's 200+ yards, I know exactly what club I need to travel close to that distance. I guess you can somewhat make an argument about doglegs but that is going to be a rare case and I won't even go into it. (I guess this is where the GPS devices comes in handy)

What is important to me and where the Rangefinder excels (including GPS devices) are distances that are <200 yards. Here is where I need to know and finetune specifically whether I need to go with certain irons. I guess I have bad depth perception but the approach is where I need to know precisely or relatively the distance.

What I think the a true baseline that people should consider is obviously features/quality over price. Throw in whether you want it to be tournament legal or not. I honestly use my range finder more to get a handle on my depth perception (train my eye so to speak) and of course to speed up play.

All in all, hope this helps in thinking slightly differently when deciding which device you go with. Honestly, if I blind folded you and have you pick one from the any of them, you'll most likely be happy with it regardless.

I recently sold my Bushnell 1500 in order to purchase the Leupold GX-i. The Leupold is just more compact and I feel the optics are a little more clear. Clearly an opinion since I know plenty who own Bushnell's and love them too.

To be honest the best compact range finder I have found to date is the Leica CRF 1200 Rangemaster, but at $600 it's a little pricey. The optics are far superior to the Bushnell and the Leupold. Plus, at low light I have never seen another rangefinder perform better. The LED is red instead of black which is easier to see in low light, but harder to see on birght sunny days.
