Got my 905R, and pretty quickly!

So last Monday, 3/20, I ordered a 905R 8.5 with Fuji Pro 95X, and was told it would ship 3/27. I am in NC, and it arrived today. I have been reading this site and the reports that the R spins too much, and as a high spin player, I was a little skeptical and almost cancelled the order. I have been playing the 904F 13* with the same shaft, with great results, so I just thought I'd take a chance on the driver. I went in at lunch today and was going to have them call to cancel the order, but it had already been invoiced, so I was told it would probably be in this afternoon. I had intented on ordering an FT-3, with a V2 75X, in 8.5*. However, I decided to tape up the Titleist and try it when it came in.

 

Boy am I glad I waited. I have been playing a J33R 460, 8.5* with Diamana 83X in it, and this club was just reshafted, having had a V2 75X. I had the V2 tipped an inch prior to installation, and it came out a hair too stiff, so I could not get the ball to turn over for me without really trying harder than I like to. The Bridgy is not going anywhere, I love that driver, but the 905R is just as long, with a higher ballflight and more carry. With the Fuji shaft, I noticed that the ball really got up quicker than the Bridgestone, flattened out nice at the top, and just seemed to ride for a good while after that. I carry the Titleist about 270-275, and the Bridgstone about 10 yards shorter. All in all, I think the distance is equal, but I find more control and workability with the Titleist. I will admit though, with this shaft, the club is much heavier than I expected, and will take some getting used to, but I know I have a keeper!!!
