07/08 pro V1X ('09 ball doesnt cut it)

looking for a ball that performs like 07/08 Pro V1X

Have played the X for a few years. It was a perfect combination of distance, trajectory, and spin for me.

The 09 version is not getting it done for me. Quite a difference IMO. Feels firmer, lower, and less spin.

Really would like to find a ball that performs like the 07/08 version. Could it be the 09 regular Pro V1?

any help would be appreciated.

Buy them used from lostgolfballs.com. That has been my solution for the exact problem you are having. I tried several balls but still wanted the 07/08 v1x.

played the regular 09 Pro V1 yesterday and was not impressed with it either. Definitely a much different feel than previous versions. I did not like the feel off the driver and it was so so off of the irons.

 

would really like to find a new ball that fits 07/08 Pro V1X since it is going to become hareder to find the old version before long.

 

Something comparable from Bridgestone, Nike, Callaway, or Srixon?

When the lawsuit happened we pulled a few cases at our shop and keep them on the shelves in back. We sell them for $120 a dozen. It absolutely shocks me people are willing to pay $10 bucks for a single golf ball.....but they do. I think we have something like 15 boxes left if you are interested.

If you really want to try a new ball try the Srixon Z-star. I played three rounds with them and seemed to perform similarly. My only issue with them was that they seemed to be shorter off the driver than the 07/08 V1Xs.

 

I'm sticking by my original post of buying them used from lostgolfballs.com. And you can get the best grade(AAAAA) for $28 a dozen which means you can get 48 for the price of the dozen the guy is selling for $120. Or you can get the next grade (AAAA) for $22 a dozen. I always buy the (AAAA) and they are nearly perfect. Maybe a logo or faded sharpie mark on about 25% of the balls. I just bought 10 dozen AAAA so that I don't have to worry about switching golf balls anytime soon.

I started this post because I was unhappy with the new X.

 

BUT, upon further review, I have went back to the X in my last 3 rounds and am really liking it again.

 

I am hitting it with nice trajectory, its cutting through the wind,

and has felt good off of my irons.

 

I do think it spins a lttle less than last years off of wedges, but is whole lot more durable.

 

My first couple rounds, this ball seem to be quite a bit different to me, but now I think I am recanting.

 

Maybe I won't be searching for a ball afterall, although I still would like to try the Bstone 330 and the 330s.

Interesting Topic, I have also heard the new 1x is slightly firmer than the old one (07/08), although I haven't had a chance to play it yet. I know the (07/08) ball launched like a rocket, how does the new one compare to that? How about the new TP Red LDP? Don't mean to hijack a thread, but I am in a simlar spot looking for a good ball that I know will be available for awhile.

 

I have played the new Callaway tour ix, great in the wind, but I find that on calm days it likes to balloon, and it was also 10-15 yards shorter for me than the 07/08 V1x
