Virus Scan "Pop Up" Problem... Anybody else getting it?

For the past hour, when I click on a hyperlink or try to change pages inside of Topic thread, I will intermittently get a Pop Up for a virus scan of my computer. Is anyone else having this problem? I have my Pop Up Blocker on and I've run my PC's own virus scan a couple of times and found nothing on my computer. It only appears to be happening here on WRX and only now after the past day's craziness on the site.

 

Is it the North Koreans trying to hack into my WITB post so they can list a bunch Game Improvement clubs?! :rolleyes: I sure hope not!

Me as well. Started last night and is getting worse. Internet Explorer message that reads:

 

Alert! Your PC is at risk of virus and spyware attack.

Your system requires immediate check!

System Security Scanner will perform a quick and free scan of your PC for viruses and spyware programs.

 

Then you're hijacked to this URL: http://scanner.anti-virus-best.info/scan.p...33&landid=4

happened to me last night and I immediately closed the window and scanned computer; nothing turned up but I may start limiting my trips here to the WRX

It happened to me before I was on WRX. It came up once, then more and more frequently to the point that it happened anytime I was connected to the internet. If you let it go for too long, it will actually install a trojan virus, not an anti-virus. I had to restore my computer TWICE because of this. Luckily it's a school laptop that I get re-imaged with all the software for free.

It hit me first when I clicked on a hyperlink to the BST in a PM, and then again in the BST when I was going to a third page of replies inside one topic. I went back to both and checked to see if it would pop up again, but it didn't.

I'm using Norton. It finally stopped doing it to me after I stayed off the site for a little while. It happened a couple of times while I was trying to read this thread earlier....

It hasn't happened again to me for awhile and I've been hitting every Forum I can trying to replicate it. I ran McAfee QuickClean to empty all of my Cookies, Temp files, Cache, etc. and I ran a Full Scan on my PC.

Did the scans pull up anything. Is this happening with IE 7 and 8?

Explorer 6 here (work computer--only option). And I'm all but positive we don't have Norton's, at least there's none on this computer. As for the screenshot, I don't know if it will help--as soon as I navigate to a page that might have the trigger (banner or whatever), it minimizes the window and brings up the [Microsoft Internet Explorer] "Alert" popup. And as soon as you click "OK" (only option), it brings up that "service" page I linked earlier. Also, it seems that if I clear my cache and empty cookies, it makes it so it'll happen again. If I don't clear everything out, I don't run into the problem...I think.

I think it's a banner as I've had it happen at least twice on searches and once by simply logging in.

I got it last night as well. I opened a topic and it opened. Im running Mcafee. Did a scan and nothing. Hasn't happened since ??? I remember the link now, it was the one for timtheputterman

I had it pop up twice last night and found out that it is a virus - FakeSecSen.
