Bags with 14 full length dividers?

Recommended Posts

Getting fed up with grip tangle!
I love the features of my Ogio Grom, but I'm really starting to get sick of grip tangle when I take a club out. My wife and I got my father-in-law a Nike Sasquatch Tour bag for this very same reason, and it was a very nice bag. What other options are there with 14 full length dividers? (Not just a 14-way top) Stand bag is a must as I walk 90% of the time. I believe Sun Mountain has an offering like this, and I wish Ping did!

I've had the Nike Sasquatch for about a year and I love it.Suprisingly, the cooler comes in quite handy. I would get another one.

I think as far as stand bags with 14-way full length dividers, your only options are the Nike SQ and the Sun Mountain MPB. The Sun Mountain "Four 5" has a 14-way divider but I believe they're not full length. I'm thinking about purchasing the MPB myself as it has a separate putter well. The issue with the SQ and the Four 5 is that putter covers don't fit in any of the slots (i.e. since the putter isn't long enough to rest on the bottom of the bag, the head cover sits on top of the divider). I also use the jumbo Wynn pistol grip for my putter and I don't think it would fit.

As far as either of the Sun Mountain's go, the biggest criticism is that they don't sit in golf carts well becasue of the leg mechanism. You have to set them sideways for it to fit. I think I'm ok with that and am still heavily leaning towards the MPB.. (unless someone here can pursuade me that there's something better.)

Like you I'm looking for a hybrid bag (i.e. features of a cart bag but with legs) with 14 full length dividers but I also want a separate putter well. I second your wish on Ping making one of these! Been using a hoofer for years but have grown tired of the divider system..

The SasQuatch Tour stand bag is a great choice. If you want to ride you are okay with the bag, fits on a pull/push cart, and is easy to carry. The straps are very comfortable and the bag also has lots of pockets, 7 I think.

sun mountain four 5. the end.

( though, in my excitement, i didn't notcie the FULL LENGTH dividers bit!!!) still a great bag though. it definitely stops grip tangle pretty much completely, though i'm not sure they are full length??? not totally sure.

I just checked the Sun Mountain website and the Four 5's dividers are in fact full-length. I may go look a few shops soon and see if they have these three bags in stock so I can compare them in person.

I've previously owned both the Sun Mountain MPB & Ogio Edge ....both great bags that minimized club-tangle; HOWEVER both are heavy for carry bags... be careful of the weight when selecting carry bags with 14-full length dividers

The Grom I have now is just shy of 6 pounds unloaded, so I'm already familiar with walking a heavier bag. Thanks for the word of warning though!

Just picked up the Nike SQ Tour stand bag, lots of pockets, comfortable straps, good look to it. I LOVE the 14 way dividers, my last bag was and old ping with 2 dividers in it lol. The 14 dividers is a must now and makes its so easy to get your club and manage them. Highly recommend.

The Four5's dividers are full length (fabric). Not sure if you are set on a stand bag because of the weight or because you don't want to lay the bag down. If it's just the weight you might also want to look at the Sun H2NO. It has 14 dividers, is very light (just a little heavier than the Four5), and is waterproof. (It has a single strap instead of a cross strap.)

Just got back from checking out the three stand bags that have the 14-way full length dividers: the Nike Sasquatch Tour, Sun Mountain Four 5, and the Sun Mountain MPB. What I was looking for was basically a cart bag with legs. Very rarely do I carry my clubs anymore as I have a clicgear, but I still want legs for the trips to the range or the occasional 9-hole quickie when its too much trouble to use my pushcart (my cart bag inevitably gets knocked over if it's free standing). I looked at all three very closely, tried clubs in them, put them on a clicgear, etc. After the evaluation, I'm pretty sure I'm going to pull the trigger on an MPB.

While the Four 5 is a great bag, it didn't have as many pockets compared to the MPB. Since I rarely carry my bag anymore, weight was not really an issue to me. As an aside, I did venture off to the Ogio section and picked up a Grom. Good God that thing is heavy! The MPB has a cooler pocket (although a bit small) and a separate putter well. The Nike Sasquatch Tour seemed like a great bag. It has more features than the Four 5 and seemed sturdier. Also, the cooler pocket of the Nike bag was bigger than the MPB's. The Nike bag also had other nice features such as the ball holder. But I wasn't a fan of the fact that it was a Nike (I want to keep my bag club agnostic if that makes sense).

The cons with the MPB is that the putter well seems like it could come off eventually. The top part of the tube is stitched to the bag and I feel like after heavy use (especially since the tube is situated where the trunk handle normally is therefore making it instinctual for those not knowing to pick up the bag with the putter well) that the stitching could give way at some point. Also, since the tube runs across the spine, it runs through the pockets at the bottom thereby reducing their volume. I wish they would position the tube slightly to the right (similar to the Titleist lightweight cart bag) so as to avoid these issues. Sun mountain wouldn't have had to eliminate the handle where people are normally used to having one.

Lastly, as is the case with most Sun Mountain bags I believe, the leg mechanism can get in the way when loading onto a golf cart. I haven't actually tried it but I've heard that you have to position the bag sideways for it to fit on a cart. Not a huge deal for me but note to Sun Mountain: If you guys are going to market this as a crossover bag, you should make sure the base/leg mechanism fits the right way without having to position the bag sideways. I mean hellooooo??

Overall, while it isn't perfect, the MPB is as close as it gets for me -- it's got the 14-way full length divider system, a separate putter well, and enough pockets for all your essential (and non-essential stuff). If you're like me and you're in the market for basically a cart bag with legs, then the MPB is your bag.
