Need advice on lower spin ball..currently using ProV1

Since it seems like you are still doing a large amout of testing of golf balls, I think it might be worth you looking more into your clubs. I realize this might be a little more expensive but might be worth it for you in the long run, especially since you are a low hdcp'er.
Try a heavier shaft with less flex. Try the DG S300 or non flighted PX 6.0. I think this might be a good solution in combination with a harder tour ball like the Pro V1X or Tour IX.

my wife would leave me..lol....I love every club in my bag and the shafts..I will try the ball route first

As an update I just tried a couple more balls. First, was the Nike One Black..I hated the way this felt to hard and nothing special. I then tried a Bridgestone 330RX this was okay but still nothing special for me. I feel the 330S was better; which I tried again but still not sold on it. Then I looked it my bag and found a ProV1X and realized how much I missed it. It didn't spin like the original but stopped close to where it landed. I will also say it did feel great off the putter, something many of the previous balls I tried didn't do for me. I still need to try the Callaway IX ball, but its down to these two.

I starting using the NXT Extreme ball recently. I was surprised by the performance around the greens. Yes, it does feel firm on the putter, but it does stay down and will sit when hit properly. I have always been a high spin player and played the ProV1x quite a bit.

These are just my results with a ball that was not even on my radar earlier.

So I want to keep you all updated on this. I just played this morning with the Callaway ix ball. I didn't care for this ball at all. It felt like a rock even when I know I hit it pure. I don't feel I have the swing speed to compress the ball properly. It was definitely a low spin ball but I didn't care for the higher compression and feel. The putter face didn't bother me as much as some have said with this ball. So after all this trial over the past week; the winner is the ProV1X. It feels good (not quite as good as the ProV but close), flies farther (especially into the wind), and most importantly it doesn't suck back 30 feet with my short clubs. These are my findings but I have realized the importance and difference between premium balls for every player. I will say my ball rankings are: ProV1x, Bridgestone 330S, then ProV1 (only if the greens were rock hard). Hope you have learned something that may have helped you. Best of luck...

Maybe you'd like the Wilson Staff Zip. It's a soft feeling ball but has spin comparable to the V1-X. Plus it's super inexpensive. Plus it should give you a few extra yards off the driver.

Hey i'm happy that you concluded your research through trial and error and came back to the Pro V1x. I played that ball for years and loved it, but it spins too much for me - off the driver and all of my irons.

for me the tour ix is the perfect ball. I launch my shots high, fast, and with tons of spin. On a recent launch monitor session my driver ball speed was 164 MPH, 3,503 RPM back spin, and 15.7 degree launch angle. And I Play with an 8.5 degree driver!!

So, i think the Tour IX makes sense for high spin / high speed players like me. I'm 6'6" and 240 pounds. I unleash hell on the ball - and the Tour IX goes far for me with not a lot of spin. But it still gives me good enough performance around the greens to make me happy. After all, Alvaro Quiros - the biggest hitter on Tour - relies on this ball.
