Cleaning a Gripmaster Putter Grip

Leather Tour-Laced Stitchback

I have a Gripmaster (dunno if it's USA or AU) TL Stitchback installed on one of my putters that I never game (and I game pretty much all of them) but plan on pulling it off to put on another. Wondering what's the best way to give it a good solid cleaning. I was thinking leather/saddle soap but any other tips, tricks, warnings, etc? Thanks!

Warm water and rag!

Be careful using leather cleaner, it can remove the color of the grip. Warm water and a rag is the best thing to use.

Pulling up an old thread…has anyone found anything better? When I use water and a rag, the leather gets hard. Would like to get it back supple as when purchased new!

I refinished and old gripmaster stitch back grip that was hard and filthy for a bud.  I used stuff I had in the house for my wife’s saddle. I cleaned it thoroughly with saddle soap and after drying did 4 rounds of saddle leather conditioner. Came out great. Would not recommend for full swing grips in decent condition as it might affect the pine tar like tac, but in a putter grip you want a mild tacky not sticky, so It exceeded  his expectations.
