MP33 and TT Black Golf Combo

Update on the Black Golds

I know the initial reviews of the BG's are very good, but I'm anxious to hear if the honeymoon is over or is it still love?

In particular, anyone with the MP33's and BG's? I'd loved to know how this combo plays.

If you're playing the BG's; what flex are they and what did you come from? I keep reading that the BG's play a 1/2 flex stiffer than stated. Any detailed incite out there?

I played the TT BG in a set of 2005 TP with milled faces, R flex. Coming from a set of PX5.0, the TT BG performed very well. The ball flight was lower than the PX and they felt heavier too... better for my tempo. I actually hit these shafts the same distances as the PX, so if you had moved from regular TT to PX and gained half a club, then changing to the TT BG would yield similar results.

I hate the other TT shafts as I found that they felt harsh... no problem with the TT BG shafts, smooth even on mishits.

Give them a try.... quite a different creature from the other TT shafts IMHO.

Great info! Can anyone speak to the stiffness of the BG's?

I currently play X100's and find them a bit harsh. Which is prompting my mover to the BG's. But I'm a little confused about which flex to pick up.

My SS is ~95 w/6i and 115 w/ driver and I can't help wondering if BG's in X are too stiff for me.

Any experience with hardstepping the S300's or softstepping the X100's?

I have both the retail and tour versions of CG1 Black Pearl with the T Black Gold shafts. The Black Gold shafts are one of the best shafts I've played. I love the flight, feel, length and looks. It gets up in teh air quickly without ballooning (high, flat tragectory). I feel the shaft load and could feel the head throughout the swing. I'm about half a club longer with the Black Gold. The stepless shaft looks great at address and the color is great. I love it som much that I'm getting the Black Gold shafts in my new Scratch Tour Blades.

I find them to be extremely low ball flight shafts. I will even say they are lower than DG's. I dont know why, but I installed a set in some TM 300's and I hit low rockets with 5,4 and the 3 iron. I think they feel fine and the distance is good, but they go low for me for some reason. I have Stiff flex and my swing weights are all around D-0. Im going to get them to D-2 and see if anything changes. Good luck, G
