Need a new stand bag

Hoofer C1 or Titleist Premium / X97 are on my mind

So I decided to walk more in the upcoming season then I did in the last one. Currently I have an Ogio Ozone and a Nexos. Both pretty much do their job, the Ozone is very light and nice in the winter, when I don´t carry 14 clubs. The Nexos has more space and 14 clubs fit pretty good in it. I really like all the features Ogio puts in their bags, but the legs are freakin' me out on both bags. They don´t expand easy and far enough and don´t give a save stand, so the bag falls from time to time, expecially in the wind or hill "lies". I guess people with Ogio bags might understand what my problem is.

As much as I love the Ogio design and features, I just need a bag that I can pull of my back, put down and stand SAVE with wide and easily expanded legs. I had a Nike Extreme bag sometime ago, that was much better in that department.

This is what I NEED:
- good legs
- 14 clubs should fit
- 5-7 divider (hate 14-divider)
- pocket space for a lot of stuff

What´s not necessary, but appreciated:
- water bottle pocket (maybe isolated)

So looking around the web I have found two bags that I like. The Ping Hoofer C1 and the Titleist Premium standbag (also called X97, I think).

Has anyone experience with one or both of these bags? Can you please post some pictures and/or opinions?

If your looking for a sturdy carry-bag (I mean this thing is serious) then I would go with the Titleist Premium. Titleist didn't mess around with this one, its essentially a staff bag with a stand! The words heavy and duty come to mind...the stand mech works great too! (Wide Base) Insulated water bottle pocket and enough room to pack some rain gear, 2 doz. balls, and your laptop! Great buy in my opinion

 

Not really familiar with the C-1. But from my experience if your looking for a lighter stand bag I'd go with the ping. Last season I gamed a ping voyage, which was light-weight and durable. Not a lot of storage space though.

 

Just depends on how much you plan on lugging around the course and which brand you wanna rep!

I have the titleist (2010 model). Great bag. Kinda heavy but what do you expect with 100 pockets and great material.

when it comes to stand bags, I have never has anything work better than Ping. Tee's would constantly tear holes in the Taylormade and Titleist bags that I have had. I have had the same ping hoofer for 7 years now and havent had one problem but I did order a new one day. I went with the 4 under but I dont think you could go wrong with the new hoofer

Ping 100%. The biggest advantage I see to them is no exrternal stand mechanism at the foot. This means they ride on carts perfect. The heavy canvas material in the Voyage is killer. if the C1 has that same material, go with that.

One thing I should have mentioned: I NEVER ride carts and even if, I might just use my staff bag.
Just got the info from my golfstore, that they can´t order any X97`s, because Titleist is out of stock and it´s a 2009 model.

Any opinions on the Sun Mountain Zero G?

The Zero G is a nice bag, the styles are quite appealing. However, that belt strap they have is a bit interesting. It is a bit cumbersome and I don't know that it really makes much of a difference. It is removable which is nice and then you are down to a regular dual strap bag, essentialy it's the same as the Three 5 at that point. It's much cheaper to buy the Three 5 if you don't plan on using the extra strap around your hips. It's a nice idea but really, when you are walking around and want the freedom of just dismounting and mounting the bag with little effort, the belt strap is going to be a pain.

Would you guys get a bag that isn't the same brand as your irons?? Seems kind of off... Nike Irons and a Ping bag for example..

+1 for the Sun Mountain Superlight 3.5. I just got one, tons of pockets space, with a water bottle pocket and a 6 way divider. The legs are very sturdy.

Can anyone with the SM 3.5 confirm if the dividers are stitched to the sides of the bags, or how tight do they run to the sides. I have looked at a few other Bags inc Pings and the dividers have massive gaps between the divider and the sides meaning clubs could drop through.

If you like the Titleist Premium bag you might as well give the Titleist 14 Way bag a try. It only comes in one color but it looks to be a fantastic choice as well. probably gonna be my next bag really soon:)
