Lightest, "real" carry bag?

I want to go light this year, so I have removed another club from my bag, making the total count 12 clubs by now. I might even remove yet another, but for now I am content with 12. However, my carry bag is a bit heavy, and I would like to go light on the bag too. I have been really pleased with my current Ogio Grom, but it is a bit on the heavy side, with all the bells and whistles.

 

So my question is which "real" carry bag is the lightest? By real I mean that it is not a pencil or Sunday bag, but one that has retractable legs, can accommodate a full set of clubs and have pockets for a jacket, balls, water and what else is needed for a round?

CHeck out the sun mountain Swift X. It is crazy light. It may be a bit small for what you are looking for. But it has a stand/ 7 pockets Full length pocket for a jacket/shoes, etc. , a Water bottle holder. and such...

Less than 3 pounds...

My favorite bag is the Ping bags which weigh in around 4.5lbs. Ping has a new bag that is under 4lbs that is very light. Sun Mountain has the 3.5lbs bag that is very light. I opt for very light bags, but there is no way I give up clubs myself. I just limit the amount of things I carry, including balls. Normally, all that you will find in my bag is about 5 balls and some tees, and a roll of tape. That's it. No umbrella unless it is raining before I tee off. I just don't put anything in the bag really. I really only need one pocket.

Titleist Ultra Light. I think it is the same as the Sun Mountain Swift X bag. Lightest stand bag that I am aware of. The top cuff can get a little tight but since you are only using 12 clubs, it should never be a problem for you. Even has a beverage pocket.

I have a Swift and don't like a few things about it.....How is feels on my shoulders (most important) and it was to tight on the inside for my clubs.....(I carry 11 or 10 clubs)

I have a TM R9 now and it's much better with all the little features that I like in a bag. (got use to years of using a Nike XTreme) I did see were TM was making the same bag without the R9 logo on the bag and in some different colors.

I also saw a few other bags in the store the other day that were super light......One by Ping and the other by Callaway...check into those.

I have been looking at some of the ones suggested, like the Titleist, Ping 4 under, SM Swift and Ogio Sticks. However, the word "compromise" very quickly sneaks in when looking at the light bags, so I was hoping that some of you had found the holy grail of light stand bags.

From my limited research it seems that the Sun Mountain, or the Titleist equivalent, and the Ping 4 under is the ones with the least amount of compromises in regards to features?

Wilson Staff Eco-Carry. It's 3.7lb/1.7kg empty, and has an automatic stand. Three good sized pockets and inside the biggest one a little net-type pocket for valuables. It also has a bungee-thing on the outside of the big pocket so that you can strap a jacket, extra towel or whatever to it. It will hold 14 clubs easily.

The fabric is made from 100% recycled soda and milk bottles too, which is a first for golf, and the reason for its brand name. Even the packaging it came in as well as all the labels are recycled paper products. So, you get a feather-weight bag, with a stand, that's good for the environment too. Can't beat that.

I have the moss green one, but apparently they have one in red now too.

The price is right too. The wife got me mine for my b-day for only $98, at of all places, WalMart. The sale isn't on line anymore, but I have seen them priced anywhere from $115 on up to about $160 at a few e-tailers.

SM Swift or Titleist Ultralightweight. Same bag, but different colorways and subtle differences. That being said, the SM Superlight 3.5 has six dividers, tons of pockets, and weighs less than a majority of stand bags on the market.
